System temp Monitoring software. According to mine my comp should be on fire...
Ok after smelling smoke in my office I freaked out and pulled my computer apart to where it was coming from. Well it turned out it was someone burning wood outside, but that made me realize that I don't have an app to monitor the temp of my CPU, GPU, etc. So I downloaded speedfan. It works fine I guess but it's giving me weird reading.
What are typical temp readings for most systems?
These are my idle readings.
GPU: 47 C
GPU: 45 C
System: 92C (WTF?!)
CPU: 32 C
AUX: 31C
Core 0: 38C
Core 1: 31C
Core 2: 41C
Core 3: 35C
Ok I'm assuming it's reading this wrong. I think system might be the Northbridge. In which case it makes sense that it might be hot, but I didn't think it would be that hot. The fan on the northbridge is facing one of my video cards (a BFG GTX 280) and the same video card is directly over the southbridge so it makes sense that there would be a lot of heat in that are but I can't believe that it could be running that hot. My BIOS says the system temp is 62 when I check it after idling for a while. I also have all my fans' RPM maxed out in the BIOS. Am I wrong to assume that it's a problem with the app or could it just be my video card placement?
Also does anyone know of a better system temp monitoring app?
All the temps look alright, except the system one. There are definately other apps out there. I don't use a PC so I couldn't tell you which ones to look for, mind you. If any part of the system was at 92C you likely have a failure occurring by now, so it sounds like an error. Usually when you get past 75C things start to get unhealthy. The GPU seems a bit high for an idle temp, but I'm not sure. I'm still running an old x1600.
