If I have a Print Server with networked printers installed onto it as local printers(TCP/IP ports), and then I install the printer on another server but use the share name as the port for it what drivers does it use?
Man that seems like a Riddle. I have a 32bit print server with a lot of printers installed on it. These are all network printers and they all work on that print server. I have a 64bit Terminal Server. Some of the printers do not have 64bit drivers, so I have tried to finagle it so that it just sends the print job to the print server to print instead of sending it to the printer.
I did it this way because it would let me. Trying to install a shared printer on the terminal server fails every time.
So on the Print Server I have a Printer.
HP LaserJet P2015 PCL 5e
Share Name: Lobby
Port: IP_192.168.2.51 Standard TCP/IP port
On the Terminal Server I have
Lobby
Not Shared
Port: \\prntsvr\Lobby Local Port
When installing it like this, it works just fine, no matter what print drivers I chose(even if I pick the Xerox ones), it will install. But it will not print from the Terminal Server.
Basically what I am asking is there a Way to get this 64 bit server to print on these printers that do not have 64 bit drivers that are installed on a 32bit server?
