I'd so love to this to be more than just a quick port and actually be a full on RE:Make style effort, but I'm probably being ludicrously optimistic there.
Get the voice cast from 3&4 on the task and I'm sold. No matter what they do with voice acting there'll be complaints, but those bastards can just play on mute if they so desire :P
Not trying to start some sort of console war, but it's just stupid!

I was just going to walk out of the thread because I know people bitch all the time if someone says this, but seriously.
It can't possibly be too complex to run on the Wii, and the Wii has been the go-to system for point and clicks for a while now, mostly due to its built in mouse interface.
I mean I've already played this on the Wii using homebrew and it's totally great.
Of course I do expect this to come to the Wii anyway, nothing about the "announcement" precludes it from happening.
It very well could—there's even a note in the Tony Hawk Ride thread (an Activision title) about how the game is 360-exclusive in Europe for some reason, even though it's coming for all 3 home consoles in the West.
This seems like the kind of thing that would be a digital distro title (unless it's a full-blown 3-D conversion or even a compilation of all of the games?); at least, I would hope so since I'm pretty sure Broken Sword on Wii and DS tanked in sales. (Still an awesome game! The DS interface is wonderful.) So unless there's some size issue that prevents it from going to WiiWare or "incentive" that the developers got, I'd love to see it on all three systems.
EDIT: Adventuregamers.com has a secondary report on it, so we'll hopefully be getting more details at E3. I'd almost forgotten that the Wii version of the new Indy game has Fate of Atlantis as an unlockable (or is it the other way around?), so either it's definitely coming to Wii or LucasArts is scattering its properties across different distribution models to see what sticks.

I've got a spare copy of Portal, if anyone wants it message me.

Open door.
Talk to Pirate Elders...
Especially if it included The Dig.
I still have the Sega CD edition of the original Monkey Island.
I concur.
I've been trying to collect the past Lucasarts adventure games since I missed out on all of them while growing up. The first two Monkey Islands continue to elude me.
GET OUT OF MY HEAD!
You post like a dairy farmer!
Though. The walking animation looks pretty bad in the remake, from a quick look at the video.
It is directly build on the top of the old engine (you can flip between the styles simply by pressing number), so most animations will be somewhat lacking.
Now Lucasarts just needs to sell some fine leather jackets

I kinda never played the first two
I am sort of sad that neither game is Curse style, though. Ah well...
This is fantastic news.
The number of frames of animation is fine, I think it's more that the sprite moves at a higher rate than the walk animation, which makes it look a bit like he's gliding across the surface. Nit-picking, heh. :P
Anyway, nicest E3 surprise so far. Been a long while since I last played this and to do it with full voice acting and studio-recorded soundtrack is gonna be great. :^:
Telltale do release a compilation at the end of the run right? Because I still refuse to buy into this episodic shit.
I think it's because the sprites move at a constant rate across the screen (as per the engine). It's pixel by pixel, but in the old days there were less pixels so the motion was less fluid. The fluidity looks odd.
I was going to make this post the second I saw the news. Except I decided to preorder the second I saw the news, then make this post.
I feel so happy for Telltale, they so deserve this. I'm also happy for me. Very, very happy for me.
That being said: come on. No Wii?
I guess the remake is simply too big. But I suspect we will see retail release in the future.
What? The new series is PC and WiiWare.
How appropriate, you post like a cow.
Day one purchase for both. I think I'll be playing the Telltale series on PC (I've got it hooked up to the same TV as the Wii and the mouse is more my style.)
Edit: They need to do something about Guybrush's new hair. Yeuuch.
Now we need Grim Fandango.
