I hope all your fags who cried over having to get achievements to unlock the weapons are happy. Because this new system for unlocking is the worst thing ever.

Items that I will eventually receive through hours upon hours of normal play vs. items that some jackass will receive upon ten minutes of normal play = whack.
I'm pretty fine with the idea. Complaining about unlocks not being based on skill sounds remarkably like complaining about crits not being based on skill. Who cares!
Do you have to be playing the class to get their unlocks (ie do I have to be playing scouts to get scout unlocks?) or can I get unlocks for a class while playing a different one?

I don't have any of the medic unlocks, as well as the sniper and spy unlocks, so I'm glad I'll have a (hopefully) easier time unlocking them.

Class doesn't matter. It's completely random.

Quite frankly, since the weapons are alternatives to your weapons, and not upgrades (excusing the Medic), "earning" them isn't really a huge deal. And from the sounds of things, I can't imagine that you wouldn't get the weapons you wanted after a reasonable amount of time.

I liked the achievements being tired to unlocks. If the game was played properly, and fuck wads on the internet didn't want everything now now now then the system rewarded skill, experience, play time etc.. and so people technically worthy got the updates.
Now with this system I have played over 200 hours as spy, since the update dropped I've got 6 achievements which on the old system means I would be well on my way to getting my 1st unlock. Which I would deserve to get.
This system how ever. People get unlocks but don't know how or why. They get them at odd times. Not for the class they're playing and often they are duplicates of what they already have.
I how ever having playing spy the whole time haven't got 1 drop at all. Spy/sniper wise or duplicate & it doesn't motivate me to keep playing. I'm not just fed up with the game. The new arena maps are good/fucking sexy. Pipeline could be a lot better, but isn't bad, but the fact i'm not getting anything in return for playing. sucks.
I like the new system better than the old. I can just play the game and the weapons will come on their own time. And I don't need to play that class a ton to do it.
But I did try playing spy some today. My first real attempt actually since they added metal = cloak. I quite enjoy it. Though the biggest problem I have is getting quick access to disguises. I can disguise to 1-4 pretty easily, but beyond that it's mostly guesswork. Are there any good scripts or keybindings that could help with this?

I just got the flare gun (my first unlock) this morning. Why do I have a feeling I will now find nothing but flare guns for the next week?
You know, they could easily make the duplicates have other stats on them.
Also, there are some screens floating around about a end-game trading period but those could easily be 'shops. Would make sense if they attach stats to weapons, though.

I liked the milestone system, if valve would stop putting in achievements like "shoot 4 players under a full moon while three ubered scouts taunt in a killcam, each wielding a different weapon".
