So I've unlocked Jarate and the Razorback. One is completely awesome (yet completely blinds me when I get hit with it) and the other is a new level of useless.
Also the final stage of Pipeline needs to be it's own map.

Its a fun map, but those hill sections go back way too fast.
Pipeline is ridiculous. It needs a time limit so draws can happen. Its pretty easy to stalemate.
It really shouldn't be considering there is no reversing on normal track. People just need to be more aggressive and push the cart at any cost, not try to clear everybody out first like in Payload.

but I'm not going to judge the map itself for that, because one of those games included 6 snipers and 3 spies on my team alone, and none of them had a competent medic

I've done 13 of the spy achievements now, and haven't received any drop at all yet. My friend joined the game and promptly received Jarate.
Achievement unlocks may have not been the best thing, but this is worse.
Achievements have zilch to do with it, as far as we know you just play the game and occasionally the TF2 Gods will deign you worthy of a reward. Hopefully the business with getting multiple copies of the same weapon is a bug.
Ok this is a random thought: Could the % that you get a weapon be tied in to how long you've played? It's more rare to get an item the longer youve played? I dunno just throwing that out there as wild speculation before they update the blog with how it works tomorrow lol...
I have about 200 hours played and I've played since the update hit and I have gotten nothing. Meanwhile my roomate who promised to try it out got the ambassador within 10-20 minutes as well as the bluts.

Pipeline is pretty crap.
first level is good,
second is too open...that whole back upper section connecting the two sides makes it really hard to setup any sort of defense at all,
And the last level is an exercise in who can lock down the middle tier first. Once one team has gained an upper hand on the center and top sections, it becomes very difficult to displace them while at the same time stopping their cart.
Sorry for all the problems with Team Zissou server, we got most of them kinked out and the server seems to be running good now. By the end of the weekend everything should be running pretty smooth.

I just got the sniper hat. Apparently it's called "Trophy Belt".
This new system could be better. I would prefer to get item unlocks for the class I am currently playing only and I would like it if achievements modified the chance of getting an unlock, ie more achievements = higher chance.
Has anyone mentioned yet that a pyro can light the huntsman arrows on fire? They will light up the victim just like a flare gun.
There's absolutely no reason not to. What could possibly be the point of giving out one to one random person every 30 minutes or so. That's about how often I saw them being doled out tonight. And most of those were the older unlocks. So they've essentially teased us with the unlockables for a couple months, released the update, and actually given them to 2% of the community.
Hopefully its just another patented valve screw up and they'll get their shit fixed tomorrow.

The rainy lumber mill map is completely awesome.

playing as sniper I randomly got a kritzkrieg. So I'm like, fuck it, I'll play whatever class and hopefully get a Sniper unlock.
