The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Don't have time to play personally, but I was a big fan of all the novels (few as they may have been), the PC game, and the setting itself. Feel free to PM me if you want help/advice on something.
Characters will be from the world of Eberron with no prior knowledge of the planes.
Game will be play by post on this forum.
Characters will be level 10, Base Eberron, PHB, PBHII, Planescape[if it can be attained without traveling to the planes],SRD, 32 point buy. You may purchase custom items at character creation.
So none of the plane touched races or planar specific races, but anything else should be good.
Planescape is by far my all time favorite D&D campaign setting with Dark Sun coming in at a close second. If you were to start up a PbP game, then I would love to play.
By the way, any chance for Rogue Modron or Greenhills Halfling PCs?

Are "sane" PrCs out of 3.5e sources like DMG and the Complete series allowed (I'm guessing "no")?
So none of the plane touched races or planar specific races, but anything else should be good.
Are races outside of the books you listed allowed (ie, +LA races in 3.5e MM (like Gnolls))?
Should characters be created such that they could reasonably know each other beforehand?
Yes to DMG PRC's and Orc/Goblin/Hobgoblin are all OK from the 3.5e MM. Not sure how a Gnoll will fit in.
No allignment restrictions
Characters should be created as a to know each other.
I am willing to play or help you with the campaign, leaning towards the latter, actually. I'm a bit of a Planescape buff, not to toot my own horn or anything though; it's my favorite setting by far, and I own a respectable number of the books.

Should i send you the same info I sent Dortmunder?[Campaign primer]
I'm in.

Edit:
In all seriousness, however, I'm totally willing to help with either part of the campaign. I wander about a bit on Planewalker as Oberoni_Fallacy, and I've played a couple Planescape games.
I'm assuming "Base Eberron" means ECS only? I'd like to sneak in some stuff from Dragonmarked [and/or the Spell Compendium], but I can understand why you're limiting books.

I took three ranks in Craft - Technobabble last level.
Well, since it is PbP and we can go in different diections for each person, I will take up to 6 people. Any one who wants to help with the campaign is free to ask, otherwise you may start making characters, and yes, ECS only.

Sure. If you have any questions about Planescape as well, feel free to pm me.
Okay, so I think I managed to put this together right... the d20 guide I found on the net didn't have the experience per level chart so I left that field blank but everything else should be good...
I haven't fleshed out a massive backstory for my character so much as I have fleshed out the character himself which I think is well represented in this transcript taken at the nearest local scholarly facility to wherever the campaign should begin.
"So, you are studying the Tenma-Schumer paradigm?"
"Yes, indeed. I fancy myself a bit of a field researcher in fact, you know, getting your hands dirty and all that."
"No, I don't."
"...Oh."
"Yes."
"..."
"Mr. Stronheim, I have to confess I have not heard of the Tenma-Schumer paradigm."
"Well, actually, right now it's all very grassroots. Originates from my home village in fact. My gran'pa brought the notion back with him after one of his adventures to the east."
"I see. Perhaps you could elucidate the basic principles of the... paradigm for me."
"Of course, that's why I'm here isn't it. Well if you boil it all down to the brass tacks it goes like this. "The overall economy of a closed system can be improved by re-arranging the distribution of wealth."
"Hmm, I believe, yes, that is not a new assumption. It is a rather elementary tenant of economics."
"Aha! Well there is a rub though. The new train of thought, the new paradigm that my gran'pa advanced an what I'm hopin to put to practice is, the re-distribution of wealth is done behind the scenes as it were."
"Behind the scenes?"
"Well, as you certainly know whenever we somebody tries to analyze something, mathematically, he wants to make the situation as simple as possible right? So, say if money is being re-distributed and everyone is seeing where it's going and plotting where it ought to go next the entire system becomes nearly impossible to analyze. Well, if we managed to minimize the parties involved we can efficiently calculate the optimal position of wealth in an economy!"
"Mr. Stronheim, what your suggesting sounds like theft."
"Certainly, to a layman it would seem as such but I am certain you can see past all the negative buzz and look towards the greater good."
"This is absurd. Leave at once Mr. Stronheim, the university will have no part in your madness."
"Fine, but remember my name because their going to name a bank after me one day and on that day you are gonna regret letting me slip through the cracks."
And with that ultimatum Vince Pirol Stronheim IV disappeared right before the sages eyes but not before he palmed a trinket off the old mans desk.
"I'll just have to find my apprentices elsewhere..." Vince left the university and headed off to nowhere in particular searching for no one in particular.
So, what is the Tenma-Schumer paradigm? Well, maybe it's was a valid and scientific theory at one point. That's all immaterial however because Vince's grandfather took whatever it is he learned in the east and completely misrepresented the teachings as he passed it on Vince.
However, Vince has no notion of this and continues his search for validation throughout ebberon. Unfortunately it seems very few people approach his work with an open mind. Quite in fact he often finds himself violently condemend.
Crushmetal was, he believes, created during the Last War. He certainly possesses skills that were honed in battle, and truly prodigious Strength, especially when angered. Crushmetal is a genial soul and fiercely loyal to those that he designates as his friends. He does, however, have great trouble making friends in the first part, due in large part to his recurring amnesia. Whether caused by a fault in his creation or an incident in his earlier life, (he isn't sure which) Crushmetal has tremendous difficulty in remembering most people or events for longer than a few days at a time. If you can get Crushmetal to remember you, count it as a significant day in your life, as you'll have gained either a stalwart friend or a truly implacable foe.
Errrmmm... I hope I haven't screwed anything up too badly. Let me know if I have.
Crushmetal is one of the Eberron-based characters, and is currently accepting applications for the position of "Crushmetal's best friend."
Some of these commentaries are actual errors: most of them are simply odd mechanical issues.
First thing I noticed was that Crushmetal should not be illiterate. By taking his Fighter level, he loses his illiteracy.
Secondly, shouldn't his Adamantine Body be enchanted? It's one of the primary advantages of being a Warforged.
Third, there's no purpose for the Pink Ioun Stone - you don't have anything in your Amulet slot, and could save 2000 GP by simply getting an Amulet of Health.
Fourth, list your individual class levels. While it's fairly obvious that Crushmetal is a Barbarian1/Fighter4/Warforged Juggernaut 5, it's easier for the DM and other players if you spell it out in the class section.

Fair enough. I kind of liked the illiteracy -- I thought that the idea of an amnesiac robot who couldn't even write things down to remember them might be entertaining. Ditto the ioun stone. Giant Hulking War Machine with dainty pink gem orbiting his skull appealed to me for some reason.
Hmm was tempted but whilst I'm very familiar with Planescape I've heard nothing of Eberron (thought it was the Greyhawk world but apparently not). Is there anywhere decent to read up on the setting or are you looking primarily for primes familiar with that setting to then throw into Sigil. Also is this pre or post faction war?
Its 2nd ed, but all the Planescape adventures, books and boxs are all here as PDF downloads.[/url]
As I understand it, most of the players should be from Planescape. The Eberron contingent is made up of those of us (hi!) who don't have enough familiarity with Planescape to make good use of characters who grew up there.
We're going to be playing Clueless to your clued-in.

Also, Dortmunder cant play if he reads that PM.
I'm interested.
If the answer to both of the above is "None" I'm interested. Well, I've played through Planescape: Torment 5 times but I am guessing that won't count.

Make your character as you would any other Eberron character. Feel free to use the belief theme found in planescape.
Does not compute.

In the whole "You're not supposed to exist" sort of way.
BTW: Are any of the core classes (not PRCs) from the "complete" books ok? I was kind of eyeing Swashbuckler but if not that's ok.
Sure. If you have any questions about Planescape as well, feel free to pm me.
Make it public, post it here.
Edit: This has alwasy puzzled me, am I saying Sigil with a G or a J sound?

Your sheets should reflect that you are heroes that do hero type stuff.
If you want to make yourself a hero of the last war, go right ahead.
Half wealth. Let me check official wealth numbers.
Wealth for 10th level characters is 49,000 GP

Or uh, failing that anyone want to suggest the sort of thing a rogue/shadowdancer might be using by level 10?
