I'm looking for some storage to augment my laptop. I'm thinking about 1TB of space, I'm just not sure if I should get a regular HD and an enclosure, or an actual external hard drive. I'm looking to spend at most 150ish but would spend more for better reliability etc. I'm in Canada too if that would help or hinder at all.
I have one of these. 1TB, USB 2.0/Firewire/eSATA connectors, and it's one of the best reviewed externals I've found. I got it for $149 US when it was on sale down from $200, they're $129 on newegg at the moment, Amazon.com carries them too. They also make a 1TB version with only USB 2.0 connections for $99 here.
I've been using mine for 6 months now, currently half full. Setup consisted of me plugging it in and turning it on. Not a single issue with it.

Haha I was gonna come in here and recommend that Lacie drive as well. Two votes for that one.
