The Grinder(Wii4Dead?) 360 version is top down shooter.
A Wii First Person shooter by the makers of the Conduit in the vein of Left 4 Dead. It's also been announced for 360 and PS3. Recently demoed at GDC for 360 as a top down shooter. Who knows whats happening with this.
Old OP
So IGN just put up stories for two new HV games(the maker of the Conduit) for Wii. One of them is called The Grinder.
Is this the Wii's Left 4 Dead? It's a 4-player online co-op FPS where you fight zombies. Ok, but are there Pills Here?
So far the co-op mode has been working out great, with zero lag while displaying tons of enemies on the screen at once. We've wanted this feature in our games for a long time and we're really proud to be bringing this feature to The Grinder. Oh and there's also split screen coop mode currently running in the demo, which is also pretty awesome for those who may not have access to play together using a Wi-Fi connection.
I'll give these guys one thing: at least they've some ambition for their Wii games. Whether it's a bunch of hot air or there's actual substance is to be determined and who knows about the sales reception for these games, but I can't knock 'em for trying.
That's pretty sweet lookin'. I don't know how well Conduit will sell, these projects moving forward may hinge on that, but here's hoping it works out for them.

Even though I don't like FPS, I'm very tempted to buy The Conduit just to support these guys who are actually trying to make quality games for the Wii....on top of that it does look pretty fun.
This one sounds interesting, but once again, not sure if it would be my thing.
Like a few other people have said, I want to see how Conduit turns out, and gameplay videos of Grinder before I get my hopes up. I am glad to see developers taking chances with the Wii though, and especially online co-op.
Isn't the Conduit exactly the sort of uninspired FPS that Wii gamers love to complain about? Along comes a co-op zombie shooter...these guys are about a year behind the times.

Pretty much, that is why the Wii is a great system for them right now. Their team is obviously very talented, as they seem to be able to get alot of power out of the Wii....but their ideas are a bit on the generic side. They just need to get some better idea men and writers on board so that the talented programmers can do their jobs.
Their games would get crushed under the weight of the bigger names on the 360 and PS3.
edit: Like I said, I'm not a FPS fan...heck I refuse to buy them for my 360. The closest thing I own to one and I love it is the Metroid Prime games, but they are much more about exploring and puzzles than balls to the walls action.
I just feel like I need to support a dev that is actually working hard for the Wii and putting care into their product. Can't promise that I'll do that though, as I'll buy it and it would probably sit on the shelf unplayed.

He's insinuating that Conduit is precisely the kind of game that Wii diehards call out as "boring generic FPS #3174" on the other consoles, but when it's in the context of being a Wii game, the same people suddenly hail the game as awesome and intriguing. I won't deny some people (not everyone) definitely set up a double standard, but I'm also not the type of person who needs everything to be innovative solely for the sake of innovation.
This is really the first new project from High Voltage that even remotely interests me. Conduit and whatever the gladiator game is called sound like they're pulled straight from the 1990s, but this could be cool as hell.

I think people in general complain about uninspired FPSs, no matter what console you own. Whether you own a Wii or not, everyone can see that it's a far too saturated genre - except on the Wii, where the great control scheme goes underutilized. So no, quite the opposite, Wii gamers want more FPSs to take advantage of the system.
Also I can't imagine anyone complaining about a co-op zombie shooter, no matter when it comes out or for what console.
isn't the point whether the game is actually fun to play or not?
Regardless of whether it's a L4D clone, generic as fuck, or an ugly piece of shite, all those factors fall to the wayside in lieu of enjoyability. While I'm not going to sit here and say that everyone should support HVS right off the bat, it is surprising to me that so few people are giving them the benefit of the doubt.
I mean, their first wii game isn't even out yet. C'mon. :P Even with the conduit, everybody cries about how uninspired the game is, but no one credits them putting in 100% customizable controls (something people have been pining for for a long long time). Of course, that wont matter one iota if the game isn't fun to play, but most impressions have been positive. Why not wait and see?

I really hope Conduit sells well...with the hard work they have been doing, they deserve it.
The music is pretty good too, this is much more appealing to me than The Conduit. I wouldn't pay full price though, it's just too ugly to be anything other than a £10 game for me.

those screens look pretty good...! (I would really like to see that first one in motion though.)
Reminds me more of Killing Floor than L4D.

Really? From those screenshots? If entirely reasonable amounts of brown and gray cause you disgust I wonder what games you find tolerable. Bejeweled?
Aesthetically, yes.
To be fair, I dig those orange and blue skies. It could be worse.
Number of announcements is certainly appreciated, though. Let's see how good the games actually are.
Whatever big three announce, it will take complete attention away from 3rd parties. This is only way to get good exposure.
Nintendo supposedly, but they wanted it out for holidays, something that HVS wasn't willing to do.
This one sounds interesting, but once again, not sure if it would be my thing.

Yeah, and then have it arbitrarily turned off 2 years later no matter how big the playerbase is.
But if it's 4 player co-op... Consider me sold.
