So distraught right now

As of noon today, my dog had to be put down after 15 years.
She was a wonderful pure-bred border collie. We've had her since I was four. I can't remember what life without that dog was like. I grew up with her around. Yesterday she couldn't walk up the porch to get to her crate, and she'd been having a harder and harder time standing up, and she'd been deaf for awhile.
It's just such a fucking bummer. I've never lost a significant pet like that and now that I have I just feel so fucking drained.
Sharna (the sheepdog) was completely out of it too, she was basically a furry twitching vegetable (water on the brain? clot? I was too young to know for sure)
The way my grandparents dealt with it was thinking that she was already gone, it was just the body being put to peace, and in a sense they handled it way better than I did
...but it paralled things horribly because my grandad had severe dementia before he died
We thought we were going to have to put my dog down this week too. She has diabetes and last week she slept all day everyday. But when we went outside she'd jump up and run around. When we came back in though she'd go straight back to sleep.
We took her to the vet and it turns out her eye medicine was messing with her glucose levels so I'm going to get to hang on to her for a little while longer.

man, getting your dog put down is hells of sad. I remember bawling my eyes out in the vet waiting area, while my mom went in to have our English Springer Spaniel put down. arthritis, among other things.
I am going to be inconsolable when my rather crazy border collie goes. She's 7 right now, so it'll still be a ways off, but I can't even think about it.
Trillian on

I watched that movie Marley and Me the other day, though only because I was outvoted on watching The Big Lebowski.

My 7 year old chocolate lab has been sick lately, he hasn't been eating and I guess he got arthritis in one or two of his knees pretty bad
he's gotten some really bad allergies too

also, y'know I was joking before, right Fands?
Well, not joking, but didn't mean you specifically
Then she ate a flip flop and threw up.
That's the plan. I was gonna try to get one that was rescued from abuse.
It's so sad when dogs have trouble with their joints
Give him triple pets for me because I only got to pet my dog for about three minutes before I had to go to class
I am about to take my ancient rabbit to the vet for probably the same thing
not dealing with it particularly well
Maybe it is weird, but I would suggest waiting a while before getting a puppy.
You can be sad with me in here
I almost cried for the first time in forever but I couldn't because I'm in a public area
yeah, my cube is not providing much cover
I made somewhat of a "scene" in Balboa park in SD last year
public emotion is the wooooorst
My nana's Old English Sheepdog was a similar age when she had to get put down
It sucks because... man, you know those dogs for such a huge chunk of your life
I'm 19 now, that is almost all of my life. She was a puppy when I was a wee lad.
I just talked to my mom, who was very upset, and apparently my dog wasn't even aware of her surroundings when it happened.

haha yes

I think I was 19, at the time. 19 or 20.
my condolences, Fandy
you are hanging out with entirely the wrong kind of people
if you've already heard me say this sorry but keep a look out for an excellent bike
Yeah I saw that and was going to say something. What the fuck, dude?
Every single person that voted Marley & Me needs to be properly scolded.
It's like Clerks. The dialogue is funny but there's no action at all and normal people don't want to watch it.
My old mastiff died about three years ago. I bawled like a baby.

Average person, then.
