The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Yeah, tuition expenses have also exploded in Canada in the last 20 years, and not really too much of a sign they're going to stop increasing.
I am going to be paying in total about 21 grand a year for UBC 8-)
Yeah, international students always take it in the pants in comparison to anyone. By comparison, I'm paying about 6 grand a year going to the U of A. But even 6 grand is crazy in comparison to how much local students were paying twenty years ago.
To offset most of the tuiton raping, UBC has a Craigslist sort of thing just for international students for on-campus jobs
i am lookin' at one that pays 20(CAD)/hr part time
Going to a public school in-state is so ridiculously cheap
Especially taken in comparison to international students
But I don't particularly care for the UNC system
Seriously I started looking at it when I got home and I was like "OK out of state for a year, what's the cost? Oh alright it's X (which happens to be in-state, in-county here!). So what's in-state? Holy fuckballs"
most people here are... well I was going to say college kids but I remember khoo's once-upon-a-time statistics put the avg forum age at like 25
Yeah, but even then most people are renting*, paying off school loans, and just starting out on a fairly basic salary at that age (hello, me)
Shit, this thread reminds me I have school loans back in the UK
*every parent I have known has charged their child rent once they turn 18, unless they're at school full-time in which case they're not saving any money anyway.
I have only ever known one parent who charged their kid rent and that was after he fucked up really bad.
Aaaaaand yet again you prove to be my least favourite forumer
Sorry, I'll try better to bend reality to always agree with you in the future.
I really don't care if people have differing opinions, but I swear every post you make is a not-so-subtle attempt to insult me, my family or my beliefs. And, strangely enough, no one else's posts on this forum do that, not even people I disagree strongly with.
I'm sorry, I think you are reading too much into it.
I was pretty clearly only saying that your experiences were basically the opposite of mine.

But going to a college in North Carolina leads to getting embroiled in all the petty sports rivalries

Fuck that shit man the last time I paid attention to sports was in seventh grade when SU basketball won the NCAAs for the first time
But meanwhile SU's kickass men's lacrosse team and their shitload of championships gets ignored booooo

Well the option can always be do local school then go interstate for masters, it's a quick and dirty way to get something impressive on you CV.
But I mean at the end of the day unless you went to THE university for your job three years out of the industry no one will give a shit about where you went to university.
plenty of people I know in China didn't know Washington was its own state when they started applying for universities there
many didn't know how many States there were and all that
and I would make fun of them for it but it's not like many Americans can tell me how many provinces are in China, let alone name more than a couple of them, without checking Wikipedia so I just smile and let it slide
Roughly $13,000 at the moment, though that's all in savings for emergency use pretty much. Roughly 2/3 of my paychecks go for bills and savings, the rest go to...well, games and shit.

My school's more than that.

I'll share with you a little song I first heard in about first grade
and I forget the rest, but it goes on to state that "God's favorite color is Carolina blue"
Wiggin, you'll know about the petty rivalries soon enough
<:x>

that's pretty dumb
west coast = best coast
UBC has sports teams. Canadian Universities tend not to go as crazy about sports as the US does about basketball and football and stuff, though.
And yes, Alberta is pretty terrible. Which is why I'm living in Toronto for the summer. 8-)
when I think about all the money I made and walked away from when I was younger I sigh
really loudly
sometimes I accentuate it with a head shake

$50?
You'd need a flowchart
he owes me a little under $300
Goddamned hockey.
but the UNC rivalries
Do I really have to pay attention if I'm just going to a buttfuck CC?
You'll be dealing with kids who wanted to get into a big college, so they'll be fans of their chosen college
Also they'll have parents who went to one of the big colleges
There will be so many Duke/UNC/Wake/State fans, regardless of where you are in NC
Nooooooo
Also Teefs nothing wrong with a roommate who's into sports
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFfdvdJishc&feature=related
if he's crazy about sports it means you'll have the room to yourself on game-days
silver linings, Teefs
