Throughout our common day to day activities, we spend a good amount of that time yammering.
For one reason or another certain figures of speech, words, metaphors or whatever, somehow manage to infiltrate our social circles and become part of certain individual's common speech.
Certain French Canadians have adopted a rather interesting way of giving props to his fellow man. And when I say interesting I mean down right annoying.
The expression in itself "mon cher" basically translates to "my dear". This is their equivalent of saying "bro", "dog" or "homie". Now, I have very little problems with another man telling me that I'm handsome, asking me to buy him flowers or having a beer. I don't mind men having interest in me, I just don't reciprocate to the point where I'm interested in locking tongues. That's just the way I came out.
But to call me "your deer", no, fuck that noise. The statement is entirely possessive and leaves a hint that I'm going to be spooning with you. The fact that this is spreading like wildfire to everyone regardless of their sexual orientation is driving me nuts. It's also cheapening the actual application of the term for people who actually love each other and snog on a regular basis.
So what about you guys? Are there any phrases, words or whatever that when uttered to you simply makes your blood boil?
