So when I was at Obelrin Con, there was an opera performance of Olga Neuwirth(Pronounced Noy-VOOT)'s "Lost Highway". We had Barry Gifford come to one of our classes, and he bitched a bit about how basically Nouwirth just wanted to re-score Lost Highway.
Anyways my point is motherfuck I love David Lynch but shit that is some messed up motherfucking shit.
At first after seeing that poster for Left For Dead I thought: Hey, a movie about zombies, somebody should do that! (That's not meant as a jab at you Vicious_GSR, more a comment on my own stupidity).

It's a trilogy, actually. A few months ago, I conceived a (VERY) rough outline for a script. I'd personally love to see a C&C film... done right, of course. The trilogy would have to play fast and loose with the actual franchise's timeline, because the whole Kane/Nod/Scrin relationship would be told throughout the three films- the final film, of course, covering the arrival of the Scrin.
I've always seen the Scrin as the race from whose planet tiberium originated on. Yes, yes, it has the potential to rip off the "Final Fantasy: Spirits Within" film in that respect, but given that EA hinted at this in the games themselves, I'm forgiven in advance. After all- how else would the Scrin be A) immune to the effects of tiberium and so bloody efficient in its use? I'm thinking maybe the Scrin planet was destroyed somehow (perhaps the "tiberium infestation" ability was the experiment they were doing that screwed the pooch for them) and they're looking for a planet that got infected with tiberium so they can colonize it. Besides- I want to see the buzzers tear apart a platoon on the big screen. Flying razor blades
Or not.
Anyone want to take a crack at posters for "Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun" or "Command & Conquer: Tiberium Wars"?
After all, I showed you mine.... you show me yours

Umm, it's pretty much pointed out that the Scrin deliberately infect planets with tiberium (or "Ichor" as they call it), wait for the planet to become over-run with it, then arrive on the now-dead world and begin harvesting. They're implied to have done it many times before, since they have special "harvester fleets". So you're basically right. They weren't expecting there to be anything left alive, much less able to fight them off, but they came to Earth early. They mistook the liquid tiberium explosion caused by the ion cannon attack on Sarajevo (sp?) for a sign that the planet was ready for harvesting. Which was all but certainly Kane's intention all along when he coaxed GDI into attacking them.

Ohhohoho. It's not that I missed that, just that it's been a while, and the plethora of mediocre television and film plotlines has eaten away at my soul.
Okay, C&CNerd, at the risk of further derailling this pictorial buffet of a thread: what was the significance of the first spaceship you find in (I think) the first C&C "tiberium" game? It's the mission with the plasma storm, where you go to the alien ship to recover XYZ Artifact (yep, been a few years since I played it).

Well you're probably thinking of Tiberian Sun, and the ship in question contains the Tacitus and it's also where McNeil meets that mutant commando chick.
McNeil returns in the rather crappy C&C3 novelisation.
But that's enough derailing out of me.

Nice poster, but now I'm wondering how Portal would work as a movie.
See in my mind I though that Portal was inspired by 'The Cube', a 1969 television movie created by Jim Henson.
So I thought if anyone would do it maybe he could have had he not died. Watch that old TV movie (it's free on google videos) and you can sorta piece together how a portal movie could be made. (or watch any movie about confinement like Korea's 'Old Boy')
I think in about a weeks time I will be calling this battle in for a finish. Let's say by Friday we wrap this one up and start a new one on a new idea.
I thought you meant "Cube" (The 1997 movie) at first, and then I actually looked it up and realized that it's completely different and yet very much the same. Heh.
I could see Portal working very well as a movie, albeit with little dialog. They would, of course in typical game to movie ruination, do a 30 minute backstory for Aperture and Chell ruining all the mystery.
That portal one is so amazing. Can I ask what were the sources you used?
Sure.
The woman is a photograph called "The White Room 2" by Katherine Du Tiel, one of a series of three photos.
Really nice use of the human body, and very minimalist. I tried to retain that minimalist nature onto the poster.

The ceiling image was from a photographer who goes by the name *icarus-ica on Deviant Art. The piece is called (surprise, surprise) 'White Room'. From what I am to understand it was taken at The Museum Modern Art in Bonn, Germany. http://icarus-ica.deviantart.com/art/white-room-56108269

I thought for sure you used Blender and Yafaray for that. If I do the second C&C movie poster, that's what I'll be using, along with Bryce for the landscape.
Hmmm. Maybe we should have a contest using those tools....

I don't think that would be smart. Photoshop and virtually any image manipulation program are easier to understand and use (Paint). Any 3D modeling application or image effects program would greatly cut down the amount of people able to enter the contest. It's the same reason why I never suggest a fake trailer contest, I could easily pull it off but not many people would be able to.

Not to take away from the awesome job you did, but it would be cool to pick an actress and model the face after that. Not sure who though.
Tilda Swinton.

Compare them side by side.
I tried to alter it with real human features. The chin, eyes, lips, are more human in comparison to the in game one. There is also some more lines on her face.
I mean I use paint shop pro 7 (2001 ) but you get the point
I remember Paint Shop Pro 7 fondly. That was back when I ran a game sprite website. It was nice because while Photoshop has the tendency to want to smooth everything over, PSP kept it very simple to keep stuff sharp.

Why thank you.

The portal gun is a concept image from Hack n mod. I used the drawing rather then the final product picture because it was cleaner and easier to use.
