I have an awful hard time getting to actually hear the host it seems. Last week I played live for the first time and assumed the host was just absent - but playing with a friend tonight we had instances where we could hear the banter, one at a time. So, is this the "beta" aspect or are there some kind of router tricks I can use?

I used to experience the occasional no-host moments as well. There's two Xbox 360's hooked up to Live here, so the way the router was set up would result in one of them being put on Moderate or Strict NAT according to 1v100.
After trying some stuff out with the router settings I finally got rid of that problem, and tonight was my first live show with an "open" NAT. If you didn't hear the host during every single break, then you missed him for whatever reason. When they cut to advertisements, he makes a comment before the videos start playing, and then he makes a comment when they finish just before the game returns. During stat breaks he's talking a lot, and in between every round is another big talking section.
I'm actually outright surprised at just how much I was missing before. Just the little bits like, "What's-his-face is on a roll. Can he keep it going? We'll find out in a bit." makes the experience significantly better.
EDIT: I should note that no other games or even the Xbox test would give me any NAT warnings, so I don't know if it's some type of Beta bug with connections or what. As I would start up 1v100 it would just tell me my NAT is not Open and would experience limited connectivity with certain users. Now it doesn't give me that warning and it works great.

Did anyone else hear Gabe and Tycho when Cashman asked about CAD and Madcats? Nice nod to cats but man, they didn't want to say much about CAD.
I wish I could have made it into the mob, but I just started playing this a few days ago so I'm guessing I was nowhere close to getting in yet.
Also, how the frick are the score so high. I got on a role in one round with 9 in a row and had at least 5 instant answers but I was still a good 300-400 away from top 10?

You have to get instant answers for every answer and answer everything correctly. If you're slow even once and lose out on the 100 point bonus, even if you get the answer correct, you're pretty much out of the running for a Top 3 spot.

You think that's bad? One round I knew the first two choices on the question that screwed me were wrong, and badly mistimed the button mash for the third option, costing me just enough points. Finished 20 points from 3rd, just out of tenth. :evil:
Hah, I love this game. You know there are so many children playing, but every now and then you'll get a question where the answer's Carling Black Label, or THC, or prostitution, and you know that somewhere there's a kid who got an Instant Answer with his mum playing with him who now has some explaining to do.
