Ugh, they couldn't do this AFTER red faction comes out? That way I could buy that and Halo Wars, and then get something else for free. I didn't really want anything else, but still. Free.
I wish I didn't find out about this until so late. Ah well. Got my hands on Fable 2, Mass Effect, and Culdcept Saga.

Gamestop is the cancer killing the game industry. You people are paying way to near full price for a used game. A game that has been marked up and average of 100%. Don't give in. Buy new (not from Gamestop mind you) or buy from a "mom and pop" place. If all else fails there is Goozex. Remember, if you stop shopping at Gamestop it might just go away.

Yes, you're right. The, let's see the views this has gotten, 16 people in this topic, yessir, we can take Gamestop down. Viva la resistance!
(And I got Mass Effect for like 16 dollars. How is that 'near full price'?)

Amazon has ME for $17 brand new andValkyria Chronicles is $46 new. That still does not change the fact they marked both games up much higher than needed. I am still not shopping at Gamestop. They have very anti-consumer sales practices and their used games are a joke. I just think you can get much better deals through Amazon and Goozex.
How much do Points cost?If you don't have video games to trade or prefer to keep your existing library, you can still buy Goozex points and begin receiving games at your address.

Oh -- my Valkyria was new at Gamestop, not a used copy. As for anti-consumer sales practices, I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but I think what you put in to it is what you get out. If you go in with a bad attitude, and that negative tone is met with a negative tone from the employees, yeah, it'll suck. For my local place, the crew there is very nice and when I had a single complaint that I put in from the web form, the district manager went out of her way to call me and talk to me about it, going as far as offering some sort of compensation. Combining Gamestop with Goozex and Amazon is a great way to get all sorts of deals on games. Writing off a great tool because you already have the mindset that that tool is not needed is kind of silly.
But, I digress. I'm gonna head down now and see if I can pick up some more cheap PS2 stuff. Thanks, OP.
Either way, I got three games in new condition for the price of two new games. How am I losing out? I don't give a shit who makes the money, gamestop has the supply and I am demanding it. If there even were any mom and pop stores around I might shop there, but there's a gamestop less then 2 miles from my house so that's where I shop.
I did goozex for a bit but the wait on some games was just unbearable. It was great for getting a few hard to find things for almost nothing, but for getting new-ish games it was a nightmare. Besides, I have the disposable income to support my gaming habit.

It all depends on the deal.
Buy 2 Get 1 Free? Ohkay, I'll grab some old shit that's a pretty good price.
Free $10 gift card when I buy punch-out at Best Buy? Okay, I'll get it there then.
I'm not married to any game store, but the game store that gives me the best deal is the one that gets my business.
Yeah, what exactly is a mom and pop game store? I've never seen one. Ever.
It's one that isn't a franchise.
The only ones I see are usually specialty import stores and such but even those are really uncommon.
I just buy my video games from whatever store is closest. It doesn't hurt that the Gamestop downtown has some ridiculously cute girls working there. I factor the convenience of a 5 minute bus ride to Pioneer Place into the price I'm paying.

Right.
I've never seen one.
I've only really seen some independent record stores that have branched into buying used games. The last "mom and pop game store" I remember seeing was in the 80s and it focused on a lot of imports and PC games. Viva la Gamestop!

Ditto on the cute girls. But man those escalators are SCARY
There's nothing wrong with shopping at gamestop. you might get pressured into a bunch of shit but be firm yet friendly and say 'no thanks'. shopping gamestop can save you plenty of money. used games are only expensive when they first come out. wait a while and the prices plummet.
all stores around me are charging 60 bucks for force unleashed still. gamestop has it used for 27 dollars. the choice is obvious.

I'd say call your local store to verify.
I went in earlier after seeing Drag Me to Hell but I was petrified as to what I should get. I'll probably go back tomorrow to buy some things.

Combined with their trade in credit deal they had going on I easily swindled them and made out better then with goozex.
Gamestop by regular means is generally a bad idea I will agree, but this deal with the trade in stuff can be bangin if you do it right.
