Thanks mate. Sounds like allot of fun I have another interview later this week. I'm still lookin for a career path change and I think the job would do that for me
hey guys and girls. been doing allot of anatomy/ gesture practice. few faces to. Lightly referenced. Going off beav's head grid system she told me recently. helps allot
I started with a low contrast but then raised it up and kept painting. its always easier to go back, just a few adjustments in the colour bars. I wanted to see what it would look like with the white hair and contrast pushed, I still have allot in store for this one I think, Funky Costume and headphones. I kinda want to break out of my usual and maybe even use a bit of wakka/minimalist colours in some of the accessories.

I'd recomend you try to smooth up your penciles a bit.
Also, try not to use white so much. Even if you're going to high contrast, white doesn't work too well as a flesh tone.
Thanks guys. I agree about the white. I think I plan on putting a colour in where the white is, not skin colour though. Attempting to do something with a funky coloured light. I really want to try something new and bright, move away from attempting semi realistic drawings. Was thinking maybe a green or a purple. I'll have a play tonight. Btw this figure is referenced of posematics. I made up the face from my mind, I think I like the face
bit more work, Spent a shit load of time doing the legs/ stockings and I think I am going to cover them up with something . You just have to wait and see. Im still trying to layer it up/ work out what i like and dont
I like what you did with the blending, you've made a lot of progress!
The first thing I'd say is that the belly button that you've suggested through the clothing seems to be a bit too close to the crotch-area. If you raised it up a tad I think it would look a bit more natural.
Secondly I think the flower you've placed in her hair seems a bit 'out-there', in that it pops out too much. Maybe it's cos you haven't worked on it as much as the other aspects, but right now it just looks like you cut out an image and then stuck it on there.
Other than that, it looks very good so far! I can't wait to see where this goes
yeah I just plopped the flower in her hair so far because I havnt worked the hair, I started from toes up. Im really trying for a bond girl sort of look almost. Im thinking of doing something stupid and adding ugg boots still but ill see where it goes Thanks

Try getting some yellow light onto that dress. The skin looks like it's being lit by a strong yellow light (particularly the legs), but the lighting on the dress doesn't coincide.
im starting to wish i referenced the face. Im having difficult rendering the mouth to look right, I gave up on the teeth. The less the better I think lol

Make th ose nasolabial lines a little less severe I think
thanks mate. I agree. I had trouble with the nose so i went back to basics and did the outline. I think it shows, Ill smooth it off a bit. Someone told me her face looks fairly nasty so I tried to make her more feminine
here are two speed-paintings , 20 minutes each tonight. Just doodling from my head some environments. Not using references, just big brushes and trying to stick with a simple light source. seeing what I get out of the values alone

watch your skin tones..i desaturated by like 40 and in my opinion it looks more natural.
NakedZergling- mm I have to agree with you. I stared at your version for a minute and at first i was like.. nah it blends into the background to much but it grew on me. I then went back to mine and was like arrgh it is orange.. I did try de-saturating it at some stage and didnt like it. I will go for a more desaturated look but I might bump the contrast/ saturation up on the background. I want a sort of 'pop' art look to it but I dont know how to achieve that just yet.
another 20 minute, full opacity brushes. Just messing about with shapes with a light source I choose and see what happens. and OMG what crap am i listening to *checks* chumbawamba ahhh what crap. Asif i even have that *flicks to Boston*
and using some of the same parts, and another 20 minutes

i desaturated the master value, but then when back in and pumped up just the "blues" to get some of that nice blue tone in the bg back

I would say of the two your version looks more natural for the composition, but it would have to depend on the lighting whether or not his original image was correct. Your version simply made it a cool image, as opposed to warm skin with all cool colors. And, maybe the original was extreme, but I think your version comes across as more plastic, less alive.
Leggraphics. Even if you keep those colors, I'd bring up a little bit more of the reds (or, rather, slightly more saturated versions of what's already there in zerg's version) in the midtones, to kind of give the skin some vibrancy and life.
And, as a note, this is less true in the legs and more in the face, arm, and chest region.
Thanks for the comments guys. I have had to put all my my drawing on hold while I find a new job at the moment. I quit my job as they stuffed me around for the last time so im looking full-time for a new job. grrr its so hard to find employment these days. Especially in Adelaide
Im thinking of starting my own multimedia company. Dealing with live remote cameras, operators ect I am organizing a business meeting with a government department in a few weeks to see if i can sell them the idea and for me to make it happen for them
First day of Job Hunting... did the ol google search and allot of phone ringing and a few emails today. Normally I just send emails but I am more determined than ever to get a new job so I did the ring before the mail.
At the end of the first day I have
1 Casual sort of position as a videographer, If someone is sick then I fill in but its only a 2 person operation at the moment. I am pushing for the company to expand.
2 job interviews tomorrow with advertising companies doing editing, filming and animation
3 advertising companies who are going to call me if they have 3D work needed for adverts
1 advertising company who will use me for 3D work and is keen on meeting up with me next week to discuss how I can start my own business like he did
Not a bad first day I think. I feel much more relaxed
Thanks peeps. I feel im making some big steps recently both in employment and skill. I quit my job the other day and did cold calling and seem to have a whole heap of advertising companies interested in my 3D work ill post some more updates when i can. Im spending most of the day searching for jobs
and one more for today. only spent 30 minute on it, just experimenting with a new style. I kinda like it hands not right yet though. i was going to make them slightly bigger than they should be

You should reference your drawings much more often.

Yes, referencing is for winners. This page went from great to not so great.
I feel reasonably confident on being able to draw a figure without reference, but I'll always get something a lot more convincing if I do ref.
ahh ok. Ill find a reference for my second one and try again I was just sketching. I didnt try with a reference at first because i wanted to experiment in my style of drawing.Wanted the face to be cartoony

Any particular reason why you've gone really high contrast on the pinup chick?
Also, try not to use white so much. Even if you're going to high contrast, white doesn't work too well as a flesh tone.
Agreed, you've work in film Legg so you know that blown highlights are usually bad things. Over using white reads the same.

Sometimes it does the trick, sometimes if does almost nothing. Make sure to play around with the different options for the best fit too.
But other than that, it's looking pretty good!

like it is a corpse
it's in the eyes, they're super glassed over, just be careful of that, the eyes are a big part of what can make or break these pinup type drawings
