reposting this 'cause it got on bottom of page and it's about unbanning:

Isocc said it's porn if the girl is touching herself. I told Bendery to make sure he didn't use those frames of the animation in his avatar, and I saw the finalized version and it didn't look bannable at all. Not even close.

in other news, I've got this weird rash on my bumblebee :(

Another thing, I trust that the guidelines for what a "minor infraction" entails would be thorough and not open to too much interpretation.

Thanks for the kind words, but I don't think I'd be a good deputy since I'd try and be strict about how nice I think forumers should be with each other. For example, I would jail meddle and a bunch of people from grath's thread. I believe in a certain amount of order, and that might be bad in SE.

The fact is, the way we are currently considering doing it, we would give a deputy a 3-5 week "term", and then give someone else a chance. I already know of at least 12 people just in SE++ that I could comfortably go to to be deputies.

I don't expect to have more than 3-4 deputies at a time from any particular forum, so I've easily got the next 3-4 months booked. And if you ask now, I will most definitely forget you by then...

are you going to have 3-4 in certain forums or just overall?
and are we going to know who is the deputy or not?

EDIT: like a mod-lite list or something
EDIT 2: or a badge by their name that links to a PM like the mods have now

    Sorry, I missed this question.

    1) I'm not going to commit to the specific logistics yet. We will try stuff until we find what works.

    2) yes, there is probably going to be a image indicating mod/deputy/admin status coming some time soon.

can a deputy add the reason for jailing so that mods can better decide on terms of punishment?

a mod might see an idiot get jailed 3 times because he made lots of stupid posts, but make the mistake of thinking he goatse'd the boards.

does this mean some permabanned people who goatse'd might come back? i'm talking about you know who

He had his chance when he got temp-banned and then un-banned.

What G&T mods decide is appropriate for their forum, is their business. I have not seen those two cases but by the sound of it, those should not be allowed either. This subject has been under a good bit of debate for the mods and we all pretty much agreed that we'd like to crack down on all the stupid and unnecessary NSFW stuff in the forums.

Bendery posted fairly pornographic animated gifs one night. I'd call women stripping off clothes and rubbing strategic places "fairly pornographic." Deni agreed and asked him to stop. He didn't. Deni temp-banned him as a warning to cut it out with the worthless NSFW stuff.

Within minutes after he got unbanned, he puts an avatar which flashes a picture of an NSFW ass, which appears naked to the untrained eye. Either way, it was blatantly NSFW material which isn't appropriate without a warning, especially in an avatar or sig.

I removed his avatar, and after talking to Deni, an admin, I banned him.

Fair and square, he got his shot. He was a moron and got himself banned. So stop whining about it.

deputies will be global. We will discourage deputies that are "regulars" in a different forum from doing questionable jailings outside their home forum, but we will encourage them to jump in and clean up a goatse or somesuch when no-one is around.

I'm only going to say this once, but I think I'd be a pretty good deputy. I'm pretty much a regular now, I'm on when a lot of people were asleep (in the last goatse incident, for example), and I can compose songs detailing my quests for justice.
