So we all buy this, it sells a billion copies, SEGA go "Hey, everyone still loves Ryo!" and then make Shenmue 3?
Right guys?
...right?
Or, SEGA go "Hey, everyone loves Big the Cat! And Sonic spinoffs!" and then make Shadow the Hedgehog 2 with Big as a sidekick. And ask for Nintendo's permission to put Pikachu in wearing a sombrero.

A dude over at NeoGAF named S0L, who is apparently a digital sumo employee (confirmed way back during the outrun 2 days) and is working on the game has been keeping updates. He promises that if we're shocked by Ryo then "Wait till you see.... Nah, I'll keep you waiting :P"
BEGIN RAMPANT SPECULATION NOW!!
I'm gonna go way out there and guess Welkin Gunther, in the Edelweiss. Valkyria Chronicles is, by far, Sega's best game of the last decade, if any game deserves to be represented in an "all-stars" game, it's VC.
I will be buying this game, but still Ryo in a kart racer?
Via Fuu @ NeoGAF:
Mid-ramp hop from bike to forklift. This was Meant To Be. Oh yes.
Double sold.
you know I was ify on the game until I saw that! hopefully they will use the money raised from this to make a Shenmue 3 (yea right)

Looking really fast at the gif, when Ryo looks back while on the motorcycle, it looks like he's flipping off the people behind him. I find that hilarious for some reason.

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing runs on Sumo Digital's internal "Sunshine Engine," which has so far powered all of their next-gen games, including OutRun 2 and Virtua Tennis 3. And speaking of OutRun 2, the controls and physics in ASR are not based on that title, but were instead built from the ground up for it.
Despite this, however, they are trying to maintain the "Sega Arcade Game Feel" for ASR, referencing titles such as OutRun and Daytona USA specifically for inspiration.
Though everyone immediately pegged this as a Mario Kart clone right out of the gate (including yours truly), it did not actually begin that way. In fact, the game had no weapons to speak of when they began, as they were aiming for a "straightforward racing game." But without the weapons, it felt like "something was missing," and so in they went.
Anyway, I'm excited for this.

Geeze guys, I'm so behind on information that I had to get it from other sources! Now I guess it's up to me tell you some newer stuff.
ALL ABOARD FOR DISAPPOINTMENT CITY!
First, they've announced HotD characters! Oh, did you want a character we actually know, like Curien? Ha ha, get out. We don't deserve that shit. We're getting characters from this.
I really didn't like what I played of this game at E3; it left a really bad taste in my mouth when I played it. Which is a shame as I totally loved Sega Superstars Tennis. But now Ryo is in.. must buy.
I probably would have laid down money for Segata, even though I know this game is going to be a festering pile.
well FWIW, Sega Superstars Tennis was actually pretty good, and it's the same team doing the work here. Granted it's a totally different sport, but I'm pretty optimistic.

See, this type of mindset is why we keep getting shitty Sonic games.
Has anyone mentioned Kotaku's possible confirmation of Banjo Kazooie in the 360 version of the game? It's just a rumor, but the logic goes that each platform might get their own console-exclusive character.
I don't particularly care either way, since most of my favorite characters are Sega characters and wouldn't be console-exclusive.

Why the hell would they put Banjo and Kazooie in this game? It'd be far more likely for them to put Master Chief in if there was a console exclusive character (which still wouldn't make any sense given the title Sega All Stars Racing),

Or Wonderboy. Because, dammit, I can dream.

Now you have to explain it.
he better say, "Would you like to try a game of Lucky Hit?"
much like how that Sonic Air Riding Dudes racing game was very obviously the FZero engine
Not to mention that, if they were gonna use such a engine, they already have a far more capable engine in the Hedgehog Engine.
...which would have been amazing...
Thats not the litmus test for Sega Racers, though. Sega has a long history of excellent racers. Hopefully this lives up to that lineage.
But I am still expecting fun times.
Obviously this game won't be the next Daytona or Sega Rally, But I'm thinking it'll be able to hang with titles like Hang On or Power Drift.
My point is, Sega has pumped out far, far better racers that Sonic Riders and Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. I personally expect more from a Sega racer.
EDIT: And especially Digital Sumo, whose work on the Outrun 2 ports should have given them experience at making a good racer.
Double sold.
I was instrumental in him breaking up with his girlfriend.
Now you have to explain it more.
Alex Kidd is in the game.
Rock Paper Scissors was the best boss fight ever.

Also a Mr. Sanshiro was considered for the game. He was going to ride in a Sega Saturn.
Nights is probably not going to get in according to some Nights fansite. They got some kind of scoop or something and tried to get a petition going.
Lastly, Big is in the game. So is his froggy.
