Anyway, considering I don't think we were officially supposed to know about Smugglers quite yet, I think BioWare and EA's marketing departments are just crossfiring. I can't see them promising to show footage and then pulling it. That would be a sure way to get speculation that there's something wrong with the game.

Getting megabitter the hardcore MMO grognards who've played half of everything under the sun,
Bioware Austin being coy about actually going in-depth in showing some of the actual mechanics of the game to the above people who have managed to whip themselves into a frenzy with their own ideas about what the game should be like is just tossing a match into the gas tank.
Bah, I'm a grognard I guess (whatever that is)
And you know, I seriously think flitting around the damn subject of how the game works instead of showing us gameplay to let US judge on how good it is, is asinine.
Also, all this talk made me boot up KotOR I. I forgot how much I fucking HATE Taris!!!!
Oh well, almost off of it
If one planet could come back to TOR, I want Tatooine, hands down my favorite planet, I was so miffed when it wasn't in 2
I too have a strong desire to go to the sandy asshole of the galaxy that has not a damn thing worth mentioning on it. Seriously why would the Sith Empire or the Republic give two shits about Tatooine it is so worthless it's funny.
Umm, planets? Coruscant, Corellia, Alderaan? I actually think Korriban is interesting, what with all the tombs and all. Kessel? Maybe the Verpine's asteroid field?

Nah... All about Manaan. Why? Hell if I know. I don't know why I liked that planet that much. Interesting archetecture, culture and aliens? Maybe just the music and the mood? I dunno. I guess the whole Kolto farming (or w/e it was) could make an interesting flash point for the Jedi and Sith. Plus it'd be quite a bit different from all the planets shown. But yeah, Korriban is a must for all the tombs and storytelling it will bring about.
Oh, and I also reinstalled KOTOR again. Finally I got off of Taris and was handed my lightsaber, so now I can actually get to the real meat of the game.
Edit: and yeah... Dantooine is pretty boring... Tython at least has some mountains and an evergreen forest. (always liked that kind of setting)
Skills? Feh. I just ran up to people and diced them like sushi.
As an aside, was I the only one who finished KOTOR1 with no offensive force power and so had to just chop through the final boss the old-fashioned (and extremely long) way?

Did you have Lightsaber Throw? Because that works too.

Manaan was close after Taris in terms of suckiness imho. But different strokes.
And hey, I like Tatooine, and Hoth.
Both planets with shit nothing on them, but still damn cool :P
Skills? Feh. I just ran up to people and diced them like sushi.
It made the last fight kind of lame.
I was one of those people that just sat back, clicked attack, healed every so often, and watched his life dwindle. I enjoy the swordfighting animations in the game.
I was a guardian of course. and this play through I'm doing now is a Guardian as well
Personally I found Scout/Guardian to be more practical. Scout gets a bunch of Implant feats for free, decent AB and HP, better skills.
I always went Scoundrel/Consular. Once I start getting the more advanced darkside powers I became an unstoppable wave of force powered death.
Scoundrel was handy to have around for skill points, and the bonus defense from their inherent feats since you're not going to be wearing heavy armor if you want to use the fun force powers.
I don't think I ever actually completed KotOR light side... I should get on that sometime, but somehow the temptation to lightning fry a half dozen sith lackeys is just too great for me to resist.
Skills? Feh. I just ran up to people and diced them like sushi.

It doesn't. I just recently replayed it and I forgot that you need an offensive force power in that last fight to make it reasonable, but I did have lightsaber throw and it didn't work.
So I just cheated. That last fight is one reason I hate that game. It's so terribly designed. The dancedancemalak ending is kind of amusing, though.
Speaking of sword fighting animations, that's one thing Obsidian did a really nice job with in KOTOR 2. The animations for dual wielding and single saber were all pretty fantastic.

x had better still perform that random lightsaber twirl. It did absolutely nothing except give me something to do while running place to place. Not to mention hearing lightsaber sounds is always a plus. :P

Then again, this is EA we're talking about.
I'm actually one of those guys who never got to play planescape torment all the way through and now I can't find it anywhere.
I'd love to get a copy of that and play around with it.
It costs a pretty penny. My buddy lucked out and was given an actual copy from some friend of his that didn't want it anymore o_O
Not that I hate Tatooine, but if it doesn't come back I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
That planet's been done so many times it'll be a long time before I start to miss Sand People and those fucking Jawas.

(Are the witches even around at this point in time? Not that it really matters 'cause they're dumb. ;P)
Edit: RE Tatooine.

Dantooine is another planet we should never return to. It's boring and has nothing anyone should give a shit about in a galactic war.

Seriously this looks nothing like Dantooine. Wanna know how you can tell? This planet has features of any kind!
Dantooine is plains. And plains. And more plains and HOLY SHIT LOOK A STREAM more plains.

Yeah, but they're both planets where Jedi hang out to train and not much else is going on. That's why they felt the same to me.

"What makes a good man go neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?"
The trial was probably my favorite subquest in KotOR. something about framing Sith for a murder they were innocent of was just great.
That planet needed Kreiya there to rip you to shit every time you spoke to someone
Guardian. Just had the option to choose it last night so I got a refresher course on all that Jedi stuff.
