You thought Jedi Outcast was a challenge? I mean, it was awesome and all, but a challenge it was not.
I meant the boss fights, and the 3v1 moments with those armored reborn dudes.
And I'm not saying the slowmo skill was the best, I'm saying when the game went into bullet time when you pulled off an awesome dodge, letting you go HOLY FUCK I RULE, that was the best. Just like when the Jedi jumps over the Sith's saber throw in the TOR skeet-tastic trailer.
I played Outcast/Academy normal the first time through. Then I turned on saber dismemberment. That made those games all kinds of fun, in a real difficult way.
It's cool when you take the head off of a Trandoshan. When you're in a saber battle with a Dark Jedi and realize that the same applies to you, your battle plans change dramatically.
Force wave is a neutral power. If you're thinking of Force Storm, the last step in the Shock/Force Lightning line, it's crazy. My Sith Lord was killing people I hadn't even encountered yet. People in locked rooms on a different part of the map. It's crazy.
Yeah, I played with a darksider in KOTOR2, so I got a taste of Force Storm. And I do recall Wave being neutral, I just enjoyed it because it allowed me to run into a group of bad guys and knock every fucker on his ass. And when they got back up I pretty much just did it again.

In KotOR II, when I got to high level I'd just do the same and pretty much one-shot most non-force using enemies that way.
I'll have to try the 2 soldier/ 18 Consular for KotOR though, never done that before. Wonder if you can do the same on KotOR II...

I'm hoping there will be a Tri-Wield fighting style.

The KotOR II equivalent is Consular 25/Master or Lord X. For raw Force-based asskickery, Sith Lord is better than Jedi Master, if only for the final power.

It's slightly-less overpowered, but the 2 soldier/18 Guardian build is still pretty kickass and gives you access to a couple of the 3rd tier lightsaber-specific feats. I never did try Sentinel....

I beat the game the first time through as a Sentinel. That was the scout equivalent of the force classes, right?
And I'm going to predict that this game follows will pretty directly from KOTOR, and events and characters from KOTOR2 will be barely mentioned or completely ignored, whereas there will be plenty of references to Malak, Revan, Onassi, etc, there will be little or no mention of Exile, Kreia, Atris, etc.
While we probably won't hear all that much about Kreia, the Exile or Atris, the game's very concept - the True Sith Empire returning - is taken directly from KOTOR 2's plot. It's not even mentioned in KOTOR 1.
On another note, I'm also fairly sure Revan will pop up somewhere, less as a character than a backstory element propelling events. Those Sith masks in the trailer are just too huge a reference to ignore, especially considering their provenance.
And then you remembered that you're all powerful in KOTOR 2.
I wonder if there were going to be challenging enemies in the version of that game that Obsidian envisioned, as opposed to what was released? Towards the end it seemed like every fight was a speedbump I had to slow down as I hurtled towards the end of the game so I could say I beat it.
Which is probably in part why the lackluster end was so goddamned frustrating.

For some people that's half the fun. I kind of enjoy an occasional game where you're hilariously overpowered. Morrowind was like that in respects.

The point of doing it in 1 is so you can maximize the amount of Force powers you get. In 2 I think you have to be a certain level before you can take prestige classes (10? 15? I have no idea). I don't recall whether there was any reason to maximize your prestige class levels beyond the last level of the class. But if there is, then definitely hold back on levels so you can level up in the prestige class as many times as possible.
Soldier 2/Consular 18 is really the only way to fly if you want to feel like a God in KotOR.
god damnit. i just got off the leviathan again and im going to start over for this. i wonder if theres a save file out there after taris with lvl2 because fuck doing all that shit again

Just do it, you will feel a lot better about yourself.
Re: The backstory, it's said that the Sith went active after two Jedi went out and met them, or some such. Some people interpret that as Revan and Malak, but personally I'm thinking it's Revan and the Exile.

That's pretty much how I'm reading it, since it ties in with KotOR I and II that way.
Something that bugs me: I've played KOTOR 1 many times, but I've only ever gotten Carth's son Dustil to show up in the Korriban Academy once. Why is that? I feel like I'm missing something.

It takes place years after KotoR II, and the backstory on the site gives summaries of both KotoR I and II as they apply to TOR. So yeah, it must be Revan and the Exile.
Something that bugs me: I've played KOTOR 1 many times, but I've only ever gotten Carth's son Dustil to show up in the Korriban Academy once. Why is that? I feel like I'm missing something.
Wait what? This exists?
I've never seen Mission's brother's girlfriend or whatever show up and I've only seen the slaver for Juhani show up once too.

If it's any consolation,
I wound up killing the little shit at least three times over before I realized how to turn him away from the Sith. I was crushed that there wasn't a "Sack up Carth, that little bastard deserved it" response when Carth started to whine about how I put my lightsaber through Dustil's midsection.
Someone new. TOR takes place 300 some odd years later.
So?
This is Star Wars. I have a theory that everyone in Star Wars lives several hundred years. There's no way they don't. Everything takes places over the course of thousands of years and using normal human lifespan that becomes insane. How the fuck would generations upon generations of Madalores hold a grudge for 5000 years? Or a Republic survive for 30,000 years? The only answer is that races in Star Wars live to be several hundred years old. Yoda being ~800 years old is something I don't believe to be terrible uncommon.
It's either that or a standard galactic year is pretty short.

You've got to get to a certain point in the various conversation trees.

Human lifespan in the star wars universe is somewhere between 130 and 150.
Edit: Wookiepedia puts the average at about 100 years, push 300 for force weilders.

No I think he's right. Sometimes these people just don't spawn. I've gone through Carths entire dialogue line, had Dustil show up, done it again, and not had Dustil shown up.
Same goes for Mission and her brother. Exact same circumstances, and sometimes the guy just isn't there.

Yeah, same thing with Bastila's mother too, I just realized. I've had her show up and not show up depending on the game.
And I always talk through all the dialogue I can as soon as I can, because I know it leads to side quests and missions.

Could be there's some things that need to be done in a specific way or something, kinda like getting to Hell in cave story.

This might have to do with it. I'm usually a dick to Carth because his story is so shitty.
He's also a whiny little bitch.
He's pretty much Kaiden from Mass Effect. Which would matter more if not for Space Hitler.
I was always a dick to Carth and will be disappointed if this MMO will not give me a suitable alternative for dickishness. Also, I don't see why there can't just be a droid or two to fill this role, so I can just keep mass producing my dicktargets.
