Yup, I can't wait for the shotgun/grenade launcher/big ass giant sword combinations.

Stole a gif of the DMC First Person game:

Gameplay looks nice. Can't help but think how cooler it would look if it had blood effects.

Indeed, I hope more games try to strive for this kind of quality. :D

It was really hard to get excited during the terrible Ubisoft presentation, but I must say it shows promise.

Like everyone else has said, where's the blood, why must enemies flash so jarringly as they die etc. I wouldn't even mind a nice subtle fade...

But it looks pretty fun and I hope they can deliver on the motion control. I'm also liking that apparently you can shoot whenever and sword whenever, none of the scripted "now you are swordfighting" stuff like last game.

I hope there are more weapons. Pistol looks pretty signature for the guy, I hope he can pick up other stuff and use molotovs etc.

Overall I am getting more of a "first person brawler" vibe than an "FPS with X gimmick" vibe.

Impaling dudes without the blood turned on is just so much less impactful somehow.

    Anyways, this looks shit-hot.

I think Matt said that there's other stuff, and it can be upgraded. I guess it's kind of like DMC maybe.

If this controls well, it could be pretty incredible. I'm not sure if the lock on is Zeno Clash influenced, but if they're taking notes from that game or even Dark Messiah I'm all over it. Intelligent DMC influence is practically instabuy for me.

I also dig this graphic novel cowboy samurai thing they've got going on.

well, that put a lot of my fears to rest.

the deaths could definitely be refined though. it's simple really. have things that look like blood animations, only color them either black or white. that way, you still get the same visceral, realistic look without the M rating or the unnecessary gore. It could be tastefully done.

Enemies should also slowly fade away.

Yeah, that's the only thing I kind of wish they would refine a bit. Everything else looks pretty ace.

Wait, so has it been confirmed that what we're seeing isn't just the regular game with blood turned off? 'Cause I can't see why there'd be vicious neck stabbings but no blood spurtings in the game proper.

Also: My video locked up too, but switching to the low-res trailer allowed me to watch almost to the end.

    Because they're aiming for a T rating?

its been confirmed that there will be no blood whatsoever. i believe that decision is supposed to be final.

that said, there ARE things they can do to remedy the issue. (points to post above)

Well then, rabble rabble. Incongruous and lame, rabble.

Edit: The more I think about this, the more it irks me. I just beat Madworld a couple of days ago, and after all of that ultra satisfying ultraviolence, I just can't accept that the first game to employ motion+ and swordplay won't let me bisect fools.

Hopefully this game inspires someone to make a core game that you can do that in.

Mark this one with cautious optimism. I think No More Heroes did sword fighting right on the Wii already by side stepping complete motion control for awesome finishers. More impressions will probably sell me a little more on the game. I'd like to know how it could possibly handle two swords hitting each other, since in game your sword would stop or ricochet and your hand would keep moving.

What I would do is have the in-game sword stay where it is against the other sword until you finish your overswing and start pulling back. The vibration from the clash gives you your cue to move.
