Ok this sounds insanely stupid and I should be able to work it out but how do you take off the little cover on the side to put the M2 card in?

    I'm fairly sure that you should pry the right edge.

    You can see how it looks open in this review - click the first thumbnail for a few high res shots of how it looks after you open it.

    Yeah I can pry the edge a little bit up but I stopped in fear that I was going to snap the cover of my phone that is less than 24 hours old.

    Maybe your provider crippled the phone by super-gluing the slot?

    Anyway, if it's similar to the how it's done on my SE phone then the hinge is actually a rubbery thing that can be pulled out a bit (like you can see in the linked pictures) as opposed to one firmly attached to the phone.

    Further investigation proved you are right (youtube, you know everything.....) it just bends really far before it actually opens which made me too scared to go further.
