Buster vs. The (Disney) World! (Now sexually explicit for Penguin Incarnates )
Posts
I was about to make this exact post, nearly word for word.
Oh man, the meal plan. Fucking great stuff. I ate more than I could possibly imagine last time I went back in 2007.
Places I'd recommend for the meal plan.
The Sci-Fi Dine-in at Hollywood Studios - http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningdetail.cfm?Restaurant.ID=129
The Coral Reef Restaurant at Epcot - http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdwi/en_GB/dining/diningDetail?id=CoralReefDiningPage
I saw you mentioned you might need reservations, fuck that. I ate at both these places for lunch and got service immediately. And I was at Disney during 3 of the busiest weeks in the entire year.
And please go to Animal Kingdom and ride Expedition Everest as many times as possible.
Oh man, don't go to the Coral Reef if you get even slightly motion sick. I can't do planes / boats / cars / trains where I can't look the direction I'm moving and the constantly shifting lights dancing off the massive aquarium out of the corner of my eye as I'm trying to eat my fish was stomach-churning.
Animal Kingdom no less, driving around those safari trucks
Please don't stand up on them
oh and congrats, you should get some just married buttons. They are free at any of the guest information areas. You tend to get extra attention and some free food if a cast member catches you with them.
And it was delicious.
Also I am totally going to hit up Magic Kingdom July 4th to see Robobama.
I also recommend the Coral Reef restaurant. My wife and I got there 15 minutes before our reservation and asked if we can be seated next to the aquarium. Sure enough, we got a two-seater right there against the wall. That and Cinderella's Royal Table were our favorite dinners (although Cinderella was a little weird because she insisted on talked to us both in character for what felt like an eternity).
It's worth mentioning that the meal plan does not include gratuity so be expecting to pay for that and any alcohol you get.
My wife and I just got back on Saturday from a week at Disney World (we went for Star Wars Weekends 1 and 2). You'll have a load of fun. Once you get there you forget that you're an adult.
Also make sure you see the Wishes fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom. It's pretty spectacular.
Me and my girlfriend, and assumed fiancee have already decided we're having a small wedding somewhere in Orlando, partying in Disney World for a week and then having a reception at home.
Disney World is an overwhelming place in every sense of the world.
And if that weren't enough it took us 13 hours to get home
I have pictures to share
But first
Cleveland
We went to Cleveland for my brother-in-law's Wedding. It was a gargantuan affair with 200 guests of which 90 percent were with the bride. They had an MC shouting out introductions of the Wedding Party to "Living on a Prayer" I turned to my Sister-in-law and whispered, "When does Truckasaurus come out?" On the plus side they served cheeseburgers as appetizers and the best filet mignon I've ever had as the main course.
Beforehand, we went to a Bob Evans for Breakfast and when they found out we were from California and had never been to a Bob Evans, all the waitresses and the manager came out to say hello to us.
Also, we got to see The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
It's made completely of glass and a perfect demonstration of the greenhouse effect inside
It's situated right next to Lake Erie
Not shown: The thousand of midges that chose that day to come out of the lake
I got a picture of myself with Johnny Ramone's guitar
Little known fact: Johnny Ramone was actually 30 feet tall
Also, I got a picture of a genuine Cleveland Steamer

stay away from mu horrible state
did you want to see me in class, or after for a tour
or both?
So just a tour I guess.
ok, class is out at 12:30 and night classes start at 6:30
so, whenever pretty much
At least, it always made for better field trips back in the day.
Every time I walked into the lobby I had the Ewok celebration song going in my head
Is that racist? It was definitely the new one not the Yub Yub one
Anyway, It's probably the most ornate of the the themed resorts not one of the three connected to the parks via monorail (The Polynesian, The Contemporary and the Grand Floridian).
This became important because we ended up having to come back everyday to shower and rest
The buses that transport everyone else worked okay but after you go on the monorail, you start to feel like a chump.
Also because almost every room is very, very long, like it was a huge trek just to get from the lobby to our room. On the plus side, we definitely never left without everything we needed because we sure as Hell weren't going back after we left. Without such incentive I probably would have left my Key to the World in the room many times.
Which would have been bad because this little baby is connected to everything, it's your ticket to the parks, your room key, and how you pay for all the meals on your meal plan. You can also use it to pay for anything else in Disney World and then forget about it. The whole thing makes it frighteningly convenient to spend money.

a friend of mine's mom is head of security (or something like that) for Epcot and let us wander around there for a bit before entering the park
Not shown: Our luggage, which didn't arrive for another three hours
I don't know, I just expected to be showered with special attention for these little inconveniences and if we could do it over we would have definitely gone to the Polynesian
But then it's hard to be upset when there's a fucking giraffe outside your bedroom window
I mean these guys were everywhere, just hanging out a few feet away, all the time
How cool is that?
Also, the maids at least gave special attention my birthday and our honeymoon
Those little cards are holders for the professional photos they expect you to buy
Oh Disney! You want our money so much

Seriously after Florida I would have given anything for the docile, non-venomous bugs of Ohio
One thing I forgot to mention about Cleveland
It doesn't get dark until 10 pm there, more like Crazyland

And in the winter it's dark by 6. Welcome to the great lakes region, sweetheart.
How great was the hall of fame, I haven't been there in a couple years
When I went that little fourth floor was a big Clash exhibit, complete with the smashed bass
That was really cool
I'm not sure I'd go again though
My favorite part was a U2 T-shirt Chris Mullen made in his High School Art class

Animal Kingdom is the newest park and as such doesn't have as much "must see" stuff as the other parks
The most popular thing was probably the Finding Nemo stage show because it is big budget and in the same style as "The Lion King" only about half as long. Dawn and I aren't that into that kind of stuff so our first stop was Expedition Everest.
Expedition Everest is basically Disney's version of The Matterhorn only it doesn't suck
It's actually a really fun roller coaster with a much scarier Yeti
This is where we discovered what would be our modus operandi, going to the most popular attraction we most wanted to see first and getting a Fastpass
Fastpasses work like this, you get one at the most popular rides and it gives you an appointment time of an hour window sometime later in the day depending on how many other people have already gotten fastpasses
When you come back, you get to go to a much shorter line and laugh at the people waiting an hour and a half while you waltz in less than 10 minutes.
It's really a wonderful system and by limiting the number that spit out per ride and only letting you have one every two hours.
The other popular ride is the Kilimanjaro Safari where you get to see real animals usually lying down and not moving. There's a bit of a storyline but mainly it's great to be able to see animals like Black Rhinos and African Elephants much closer than most zoos
Also going on Safari is the perfect excuse to wear a God awful hat
I know you're jealous
Some pics from the safari you can click for larger
