I imagine it involves a lot of chopping things off and replacing them with other things.
Unless I'm getting mixed up don't the first two stages of WR not touch the actual body of the car at all? I know first stage is pretty minor stuff like throwing out seats and radios.
Yeah, according to the text in FM2, stage one is ditching the spare tire and stuff. Stage two gets rid of the A/C and puts in a lighter battery, stuff like that. Stage 3 eliminates pretty much the entire interior.

With 400 cars, I THINK you might find a car you like
Was this in response to me? If so, don't get me wrong dude, there are tons of cars I can't wait to get ahold of. All of them, really. I'm a sucker for older classics, but I've also got a special place in my heart for the modern classics of the 80's and onward. I can't adequately express in words just how much of a car lover I am, though I'm not mechanically inclined whatsoever. I just like looking at 'em and driving 'em.
I'm especially a sucker for the old Euro classics. You know, like pre-supercar era stuff. Old Fiats, Citroens, Peugeots, Alfa Romeos, Ferraris, Jags, etc. I...I have problems. I'm jonesing for some Forza 3 like I did for cigarettes when I first quit smoking. My hands are shaking, you guys...I need it to be October!
I'd say that the Countach falls into the 'supercar era', and might even go so far as to suggest it created it. It certainly opened the floodgates.. Lamborghini set out to make a car that turned heads, and they accomplished that. Exotics never were quite the same.
Even though by all accounts it's a pretty terrible car to own. Clarkson's reviews of the car are hilarious.

Yeah it was.
I can't say though that I'm fond of older cars that are European or Asian in origin. Though I like Muscle Cars and everything else.
Errr, I WAS watching it in HD, that doesn't automatically make the quality better with the bitrate they used. :P If you're going to show direct feed footage, do it at full res and 60 fps at the very least.

That's what I mean...pre-80's Euro cars...that's where my heart lies.
Also, don't misunderstand me, Hawk...I loves me some American Muscle. I guess I'm just wishing they'd put more focus on pre-80s cars than what they're doing. I love a good mix of new and old, I just wish it was closer to 1:1. Then again, it may be. The car list is far from complete.
I like the old cars too, but they're curiosities more than anything. They tend to be very difficult to drive, don't handle upgrades very well, and get the shit kicked out of them by new cars.
They're really don't get used to race all that often, unless someone specifically sets up a classic car race. Turn 10 can probably get a lot more interest in their game by focusing on newer stuff.

First, I will say that there are a lot of classic cars being raced online, from what I've seen. I never have a hard time finding a group of guys who are willing to give the classics a go. Much moreso than the newer cars, they tend to test and exhibit the true skill of the driver.
That said, they're only difficult to drive until you change your perspective on how to drive them. You can't drive them full-bore into a turn like you can with some of today's cars, but if you manage to get your accelerating and braking right where they need to be, you'll be surprised at the amount of competitors you'll leave in your rearview mirror. Drifting is by no means restricted to newer cars. Far from it, indeed, I would go so far as to say that some of the older cars drift better than the newer ones. Like I said, it's all about perspective, and the approach you take to driving.
The only glaring problem with the muscle cars is that the high end is utterly inadequate by comparison. The acceleration however tends to leave most modern cars in the dust, so if you're racing on a track without a lot of long straights, you've got as good a chance as anyone.
If they include enough classics, and since we now have Circuit De La Sarthe, it would be great if they had a Le Mans Classic race event. I would love to run a Group 4 race.

Just remember that half the people you meet are below average intelligence.

They'll almost certainly have a GT40 vs. 330P4 event on Sarthe. Seriously, I would bet money on it.

Before we lock any more threads due to all the drama it's causing, let me just confirm that FM3 will not have shift animations in cockpit.
I know it's disappointing to many of you, but with 400 cockpits (and their various gear shifts and locations), it came down to a matter of priorities for us and it was a feature that had to be cut. Bummer, to be sure, but if shift animation is the only reason you play cockpit view, well, I personally think you're missing the point and you'll just have to suffice with the hood view.
Speaking from the POV of someone who is working his way through the game right now, I'd rather have all the UGC, scoreboard, photomode, and career features that DID make it into the game than trade any of them for shift animations. But that's just me.
Besides, I've played a couple of other racing games with cockpit view that are releasing this month and both of them have terribly unrealistic driver hand/steering wheel motions that make you look like your character is making spastic and very exaggerated movements. Does that break immersion for me? Yes. Is it a show stopper? Nah.
You have every right to be disappointed but let's please not clutter up the forums with name calling and hysterics.
Accept it and move on, or don't accept it and move on.
We have more cool stuff to show/reveal from the game in the weeks to come so cheer up. Or don't cheer up. I don't really care. But let's not be jerks to each other
Lay it out, and tell people to avoid raging about it. Even though probably are going to rage anyways.

Maybe I'm naive, but I can't fathom that many people bitching about such a trivial feature. It's like...are you really that butthurt just because the driver doesn't move his arm down to the shifter? Man...
They fixed all my complaints with FM2, so I'm going to be a happy camper.
P2P sections for Nurburgring? Check.
Interior views? Check.
Analog clutch? Check.
No menu lag? Check.
Fewer neon disc rotors? Check.
Season mode? Check.
Rewinds and film editing? Check.
The only thing they didn't "fix" was the car painting, I was hoping for an image import but I guess that was expecting too much.
I really hope this time switching cars is nice and fast. I'd love to just go into freerun on a small test track and try out individual cars for a few laps before switching to another. In FM2 it was a bit of an ordeal going back through the menus to switch to a new car. I'm not expecting on-the-track car switching at all, but faster menus will help a great deal.
The only thing they didn't "fix" was the car painting, I was hoping for an image import but I guess that was expecting too much.
I think this was probably a conscious choice to keep the painting community alive and make those awesome designs still impressive. At least they've added options to buy layer sets and even buy just paintjobs rather than them being stuck to the car.
Very nice. Sedona looks like a great track. I hope the old tracks can live up to the newcomers!
I nearly had an aneurysm of amazement when I saw it in 60FPS, but when it started out in bumper cam and stayed there a while I got nervous -- maybe the rumors were true and that cockpit camera was only 30FPS.
Then it jumped to cockpit cam and oh shit. I damn near applauded. I especially like how the steering wheel looked like it was bristling from the vibrations of all that sheer power under the hood. I think I'm gonna have a lot more time/fun invested into the race cars now for sure (especially now that you can paint them).

Warning: More unhealthy Supra obsession to follow...
It has occurred to me that perhaps this is the reason they've neglected to announce my lovely MKIV Supra as being in the game. Maybe they just intend for me to take one of the race versions and mod it down to resemble a stock Supra. I hope that's not what they're doing, because I really just want the old stock Supra RS to play around with like I did in Forza 2. I have a drug-like obsession with the Supra MKIV, if you couldn't tell. And for the (self-justification) record, I was in love with them long before Vin Diesel told me I should be.
Addendum: Oh, man...I just found a bunch of old pictures from Forza 2's photo mode that I didn't even know I still had. Now I'm *really* dying to play again. Damn.
Edit: Holy shit, Xia. That's crazy...you posted that right as I was typing this up. Granted, I'm happy to see another R-class Supra, but I still want a stock MKIV like a crackhead wants crack. But seriously, <3<3

The likelihood of Turn10 omitting the Supra MkIV is about as likely as their omitting the Honda NSX-R or the first-generation Subaru Impreza: they're some of the most iconic cars of the '90s, they've been in the first two games, and to leave 'em out of the third would be unprecedented. You will get your Supra, and I'll get my R33 Skyline to smoke it with. :P

Smoke this, bitch. Man, it's so easy to pick the Japanese supercar over the Japanese muscle car. With your fucking cylinders and horsepowers and cubic centimeters...nub.
And I know. I know it's stupidly unlikely that it'll be omitted. I've just got this...this underlying fear, man...ever since Rockstar left my precious out of Midnight Club:LA, I feel like there's some...some fucking developer's conspiracy against me and my beloved.

tell that to my Fairlady Z 432R. . .
The machine from '69 doesn't handle very fine.
