So Order managed to unlock IC tonight on Iron Pickle. Our alliance held them off and we got to farm the PQ twice!
Fucking bosses that take greater wards to not get oneshot hit like a bitch. Though a couple TSM guys made off with some loot (a blue and purple bag) from the city PQ.
4 Invaders Crests for me. Yummy.
City defense is fun, no?
When your warband finally manages to get into the same instanced city? Yes.
When you spend 30 minutes attempting to get this sorted out? Not so much.

Witch Hunters are a melee class with ranged finishers (although I'm not sure all finishers are ranged). By and large though the majority of their damage comes from melee. Except the stats on their gear didn't focus on Strength. They were based around a balance of Strength and Ballistics.
They aren't all ranged. BAL for instance is melee, as is Burn Heretic! But the bread and butter execution is (Absolution). That said, the ranged finishers are nice but unreliable, so they don't function as a ranged class in any real form. The range is also limited to 30ft.
This was annoying to a lot of players, and rightly so.
Currently as far as I know all Witch Hunter ablities are Strength based and, with a few overlooked exceptions last I heard, their gear now reflects that.
I haven't really run into any unfixed gear, though my equipment set is pretty static. And yes, changing things to STR helped immensely.
I assume that's to make up for the huge disparity in defensible positions between the IC and Altdorf invasions (both of the cap points in Altdorf are huge, open areas).
We pushed the order city twice yesterday on praag. I think the order has given up there. We basically just farmed invader crests. Sadly we were not able to push to stage 2. I think our lowbies were not winning the city SC's.

It was slightly sad in that we killed the General (2nd PQ attempt) and 3 of his bodyguards and had the 4th down to 10% when the announcement came that the rebuilding phase was over. Killed him, saw the PQ chest pop up, but before the rolls could start everyone was ported out into the Maw.
Except Banellor. Apparently he's a ninja-stealing git who managed to get stuck in the instanced city and nab the PQ's purple bag.

Oh I know about the patchfix. We just cut the PQ so close to the end of the rebuilding phase that most of the warband (except Bane who got stuck in the instance) was ported out before the PQ went from "Boss is dead" to "loot rolls". So unless it still recorded us and rolled for us without us knowing, I don't know if we'll get any bags.
We never got the 2 Invaders Crests for completing the PQ the 2nd time (got them the 1st time).
So I'm pretty damn happy about some of the changes that have been made to the UI. The itemized backpack slots are fucking great, the ability to check participation on PQ loot rolls is nice too. Now I just need to find some slick addons that clean up the WB interface and some Chosen addons. Anyone have any suggestions?
Havelock - Squared is the shit for the WB interface. I absolutely love it. A lot of people like Twister for auras, but I'm not a fan - I don't use a regular rotation, so it just gets in the way.

I tried twisting the str and toughness aura last night, but that did nothing for me, except make me focus on something other than combat. Steamrolled through Nordland/Norsca last night though in RvR. Went to Dwarfland, the WB fell apart, but a handfull of us took that tower BO. We were sitting pretty when a full Order Idiot Brigade came rolling up on it. Even though there were four of us and we wound up dying with 10 seconds left on the timer, we still captured the BO. Order couldn't kill our shaman fast enough to beat the timer.
We also held them off for a while at the top of the ramp, so that was cool. Now all I need is some damn armor. Rolling on a chosen to rank 5 with nothing but your r1 gear is fun times.
Magus pets can still shoot through walls, and Squigs can probably do the same things SWs can as well as use their pets to shoot through the walls. This is just like BWs and Sorcs can use ground-targeted AoEs without having line of sight on the target location. I'm not saying these things are fair, but they are mirrored on both sides of field.
I'm starting to think destruction is pulling back a bit on badlands. They're still a bit more organized, but by and large I'd say the populations are just about even (though different times of day seem to be reliably controlled by one side or the other), or at least a lot more balanced than a few months ago. I don't expect a critical failure point in the near future or anything, but it is nice to at least "have a chance" of entering a fair fight instead of knowing you're always going to be outnumbered within moments of entering the RvR area.
I couldn't imagine playing a Chosen/Knight and not twisting (at max level anyway, when you have Bellow Commands / Power from the Gods), and I couldn't imagine twisting without Twister. I have it bound to a thumb button on my mouse, and by this point twisting is automatic like breathing. I find myself hitting my twist button every 5 seconds when playing other toons. Sometimes I even hit it while surfing the web. In open RvR, I've only found three auras worth twisting under my build (Gather Your Resolve, Press the Attack and All Out Assault) so I don't see any need to juggle more auras than that. I wasn't convinced on AOA until after I download Tortall's DPS Tracker and Dammaz Kron. AOA is easily a third or more of my overall damage in oRvR, and I get nearly twice as many killing blows when I'm running AOA.

We've been steamrolling them in ORvR lately, or at least it seems so to me. When was the last time we were actually losing the fight? We're also winning the TK event. It might be just as bad if we end up outnumbering them and their numbers start to dwindle.
Wait what? You can bind Twister to a thumb button? How!
And I tend to use the Resist Aura + On Cast Damage Aura + DoT Aura because I like killing BWs.
heh speaking of which i hit 100 bw kills at rank 18....i feel incredibly good about myself /satisfied
It's like the first time you played a totally awesome rift and didnt fudge up once, or you got in like flinn with that totally hot chick and her roommate.

I was wondering the same thing. I don't have a thumb button, but if I can bind it to another, that'd be interesting. Is this like an addon or something?
You might want to give Twister a try, then, especially if you're using a regular rotation. It basically allows you to switch between up to three auras using the same button. Just press it every five seconds or so and you're good.
I find I don't do a whole lot of sustained attacking; it's all effect-based (run in, Quake, Blast Wave, Challenge, snare, etc) so I'll juggle auras between those attacks. Very rarely do I follow a single enemy and whack on them with Ravage repeatedly. My damage tends to be low, but I do see a net gain in the *rest* of the team being able to do something as I keep two or more healers or Bright Wizards tied up. It doesn't feel like much is happening, but then I pull decent Renown and we win Scenarios or grab BOs.
In that sort of scenario it's easy to fire off a variety of auras; I just do it depending on who or what I'm harrassing.
edit: whoa; I started writing that about 15 minutes ago. Fast thread is fast today.
I really really want to play this but I can't get out of T1. It has nothing to do with the game but every time I get to level 10ish I just get bored with the class and want to try something new. Leveling seems to slow down (It doesn't actually I just suck suck suck at staying focused). I know everything gets better later on but I just can't bring my self to go that far. I wanted to play a healer but none of them appeal to me, well maybe the DoK so I guess I'll try that out.

Right now, at rank 5, I don't have any effect-based stuff, so I sort of have to do sustained attacking and rushing the healers while looking big and scary. The latter works for the most part, I just push the back line and hope the melee folks follow me. It works for the most part, and even though I usually die from getting FF and a general lack of heals, if I get enough enough melee people to turn their backs and follow me, that means less Order for our melee rush to encounter on their way to the healers.
On a different topic, I rolled a scen of Khaine's Embrace last night, and it was the "Crappy PUG" one. It still surprises me that we're a year or so in on this game and people still don't know to target the healers first and they don't know how to communicate effectively.

Tanks really, really don't come into their own until they get a full range of snares around level 30. At least, that's true for swordmasters. I had fun, but I have SO MUCH more fun now that I can make people stand still while I stab them.

Me, Oats, and another mouth were in a scenario the other day where you have to run the keg to the other side's point to blow it up.
Well, Order was ignoring that and just killing Destro. Why were they killing Destro? Because throughout the entire match, every single non-mouth was attacking the 3 or so tanks Order had. Every. Single. One.
So, Oats ignored Order and capped the keg 5 times in a row, winning us the game.

Phoenix Gate (CTF) and Talabac Dam (the one you were playing, Aegis) has the whole "hey lets ignore the purpose of this scenario and just try to farm one another" thing going on.
Speaking of which, who's the contact for Six Mouths? I'll be on later tonight (PST) and I was going to look you guys up.

I don't do Talabac Dam. I ignore that scenario like the plague. There is nothing good about Talabec dam as Destruction unless you're running an entire warband premade.
I dunno, I kind of like PUGs because they allow us to really excel and look good when the enemy is pugging, our side is pugging and the 5-man Candymancer team is just rolling everyone.

Is it just me, or is the same true about the skaven tunnel T4 scenario, but for Order? I've never not had that scenario end with Order afraid to even click through the shield because Destro is just camping the crap out of our spawn.

I don't mean to sound like I hate all PUGs, because I've been in some really good ones. The problem is that when you get a bad PUG, there's no middle ground. It's always the worst fucking PUG ever.

I haven't played Grovod Caverns much. The few times I have we've gotten rolled, but mostly because the team's idiots as opposed to the map absolutely hating you.

The nice thing about Factory that they added for the Live Event is that by looking at the map in the first 5-10 seconds you can tell if you're going to lose the match or not.
If you're the only one on your team to run to the far flag while everyone rushes the middle? You're going to lose the match.
If you have people coming with you to cap the flags? You stand a good chance of winning the match.

Unfortunately, the game tends to reward farming the other side over actually completing the objectives. I can't tell you how many scenarios Ive done where one team wins but the losing team gets all the renown because they were farming the other side. Don't really know how they would fix that without making things absolutely suck for the loser though.
Well, as an example of Grovod Caverns, you have our game there last night. Order was rolling through and we eventually pushed destruction back to their spawn, but they had one black guard who kept grabbing our objective and either holding it or turning it in twice. Each time he turned it in, we'd cap as well a little bit later. Eventually, he stopped turning in and just stood just under the portal and held the bauble the entire rest of the match (a good 8 minutes here). We couldn't kill him because he literally had 6 healers just focusing on him. The only reason we didn't lose was because he had stupid allies jumping down allowing us to farm them and we were able to get the fight pushed towards their spawn early to get an advantage in kills.
I find it rare that matches are close throughout the scenario unless it's just an entire scenario of tanks and healers vs. their mirrors. The comeback wins are awesome though, and even the ones where you make the other guys sweat at the end are fun.

We had healers (shammies and zealots) in T1 last night. A good chunk of them were on Region 1 chat trying to make the case that a healer class (Zealot) could be a viable DPS class. That didn't go over too well with the rest of Region 1, and just further fuelled the "QQ healers don't heal" bitchfest.

I made a Shammy named DeePee.
One I hit 20 he'll get the last name of Ess.
That is the extent of my contribution for this conversation.
Actually, no. Also people need to learn (well people on my side anyway) that squared makes healing EZ, not necessarily fun though.
It's like playing whack-a-mole.

I had a Shaman I levelled to 40 during beta. I like the shaman's DPS tree, most particularly for the ranged AoE knockback that plinks Order off of Keep walls.
Yea, I didn't end up healing that much. except to build up Waaaagh! and save the odd good player now and again.

Speaking of which, who's the contact for Six Mouths? I'll be on later tonight (PST) and I was going to look you guys up.

Is it just me, or is the same true about the skaven tunnel T4 scenario, but for Order? I've never not had that scenario end with Order afraid to even click through the shield because Destro is just camping the crap out of our spawn.
Pretty much.
I don't mean to sound like I hate all PUGs, because I've been in some really good ones. The problem is that when you get a bad PUG, there's no middle ground. It's always the worst fucking PUG ever.

When Reikland Factory first came out for the Heavy Metal LE, I can't even begin tell you how many times that instance played out in the scenario.
I find it rare that matches are close throughout the scenario unless it's just an entire scenario of tanks and healers vs. their mirrors. The comeback wins are awesome though, and even the ones where you make the other guys sweat at the end are fun.

Yea, I didn't end up healing that much. except to build up Waaaagh! and save the odd good player now and again.
