Today(Friday) around 7pm I started having issues with my internet connection. I connect to a wireless router and have since I moved into this place in May, this is the first time I've had this problem. At random the signal strength will drop from 54mbps down to around 12mbps then gradually go back up then drop again. I noticed this while playing WoW as I would log on around 150ms ping then it would randomly go up to 5000ms or higher then either drop back down to 500ms or just disconnect. I could log back on but would be promptly disconnected once again. I'm not sure what could be causing this but it started today.
Edit: My roommate connects with a cable and it works just fine for him, perhaps something on my end with the wireless?
There are only 2 wireless networks in this area that my card can see. My connection does have a password on it and right at this moment its only my computer and my roommates connected to it(Wireless for mine, ethernet for his).
How could I go about changing the channel for the network? Both mine and the other one are showing Channel 11 but up until now I've never had problems with it.
I switched the channel from 11 to 10. Logged onto WoW, not 2 minutes later I start lagging and have to Alt+F4 out of the game to close it since logging off was taking too long. I just switched to a static IP, I'll try it again.
Edit: I tried a static address and it wouldnt allow me to connect to anything besides MSN which was odd. I'm out of ideas but I'm welcome to trying any others.
Alright, this problem is still occuring. I have reinstalled drivers and changed the channel many times and nothing has happened and I am about to smash something. If anyone has any ideas at all I'd be more than willing to try.
On a hunch I went into the room where the router was and the retarded roommate had his shit all over the damn router and the antenna was pinned under it. Moved it and its better now.

You might want to ensure you have a secure connection (ie: network key)
AND get a program that searches the area for the channels that are being used the most. (Somebody, please tell me what this is!)
If there's a lot of people on one channel, change yours. It's in your router manual.

Edit: Found the channel settings
