The Top 10 books really show just how much DC need Geoff Johns and Grant Morrison, as their stories, and stories spinning out of their stories, are pretty much the only thing that's even close to closing the sales gap between DC and Marvel.
Deadpool remains amazingly resilient, with Deadpool #12 gaining several thousand sales over the previous issue, Merc With a Mouth launching strongly, and Suicide Kinds gaining a few thousand sales, something virtually unheard of with a mini-series nowadays. I still don't know if Deadpool can support three ongoings, but it's easy to see why Marvel wants to give it a shot.
Various Marvel books experienced small sales increases, which again, is pretty rare, and bodes well for them. I'd have to look to see if they had any variants or Dark Reign banners on those issues, but nevertheless, it's nice to see some second tier books like Hercules, Thunderbolts, and Secret Warriors showing some sustainability. On the other hand, the sales for Immortal Weapons doesn't bode well for an Iron Fist relaunch.
Agents of Atlas keeps doing this funky thing where, when it ships twice per month, the first issue sells pretty well, usually level with the previous month's issue, but then the second one sells a few thousand issues less, likely due to retailers expecting a significant drop. But then the next month it comes back and the first issue, again, sells pretty close to the previous month's first issue. It's still not selling really well at 23k, but it's not really spiraling down in flames either.
I'm happy to see Power Girl showing some early resiliency. A lighthearted book about a female protagonist, launching years after interest in the character had initially been piqued, seemed doomed to fail. But it'd be nice to see it stick around.
Teen Titans and Booster Gold both continue to slowly slide down the sales chart, though Booster's been holding pretty steady. Still, I wonder how long until both books are either canceled or relaunched. I can't imagine DC's oblivious to how poorly regarded Teen Titans is, nor happy with what's become of a former flagship title.
And then there's Unwritten, which seems to have been helped tremendously by the $1 promotion. Granted, many Vertigo books tend to launch around 15k, but for it to gain even a few hundred sales shows that it might just have enough good word of mouth to actually grow its readership, or at least sustain a healthy one.
I'm really interested where both Ultimate Comics titles will place in the August sales chart. I could honestly see both Ultimate Comics Spider-man and Avengers become huge successes since the current Ultimate universe is a much more appealing choice for fans with a budget, despite all books being 4 bucks.
I'm hopeful that REBELS will retain some of the BN crossover readership.

Power Girl is okay when they're not doing creepy stuff like having the new Terra fight in her underwear because she didn't wear her costume under her clothes.

I think it's terrifying that Titans (although that issue was a lot better than most of the run but still only decent) is higher than the Superman books which are all pretty much great.
Part of it's the fact that the Superman titles cannibalize sales from each other, I'm sure, but the possibility that anyone is enjoying Teen Titans at all is nonetheless terrifying.

Yeah, those superbook numbers are pretty abysmal. There seems to just generally be a level of disinterest in the character and his world still, and dropping him out of his own books probably hasn't helped matters. I remember sales being in the low 50,000s when I last looked at them, either right before or right after WoNK started and the replacements took over.
Sales figures for Adventure Comics and Secret Origin should be interesting.
From an interview Gail Simone did with Kurt Busiek over on the CBR Wonder Woman forum:
5) And finally, can you tell us what you're working on right now, and maybe a bit about what's coming up?
I'm still working on ASTRO CITY --next up is a two-part ASTRA special, then Book Four of the epic DARK AGE arc. I'm also working on AMERICAN GOTHIC, a new creator-owned series for Wildstorm that'll be launching sometime next year -- it's a series all about contemporary fantasy, about magic all around us in real-world settings. Plus, I'm writing an ARROWSMITH novel and a follow-up-of-sorts to SUPERMAN: SECRET IDENTITY called BATMAN: CREATURE OF THE NIGHT that I expect we'll be talking about more once there's art to show.
Probably the most exciting thing announced in a long time!
You know, there are a lot of guys that I would like to see Wolverine fight. There are even more guys I would like to see Thor fight. But I have never wanted to see them fight each other. And especially not when it's written by Frank Tieri.

Hahaha! Love it!!
Man, that is a great book. I wish they would hurry up and get the 8th trade out.

It's a nice, fun book with amazing art. I'm pretty happy that it's selling decently, but I'm sad that I can't say the same thing about REBELS...
Edit: Oh wait, BL: Titans. That makes sense.

It's because it was a Blackest Night tie-in
It's probably better that way.

A book starring teenage heroes? That sounds fun!

I mean every week one of my close friends is horrifically murdered
We make fun of USM Peter and MJ (and now Gwen) but if they're so gung ho at DC on teenage violence, you might as well have sex thrown in to.
Along with music from Bush.
here's a hint: it's not in the comic news thread
I was telling an anecdote
The first five or six pages of #4 were absolutely hilarious. I was impressed at how many events they were able to name-drop into the movie trailer.

Mage troops
German Vampires
Allied Gargoyles
it is like Hellboy set in World War I
1) It's Batman
2) It's written by Kurt Busiek
3) It's in the same vain as Superman: Secret Identity, which is an amazing book
an anecdote that was still not on topic
But it's happening anyways, and here's a preview: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=22827, which does not feature any Thor.
