This is the best game you can currently play on your computer gaming machines, so you should all play it. Also sometimes Valve will drop the price to like $10, so no one who enjoys shooting other people and has a computer capable of running the game has an excuse not to own it.
WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THE RECENT UPDATE?
- Snipers got the Huntsman, the Razorback, and the Jarate. The Huntsman is a bow and arrow that replaces the normal sniper rifle. The other two are both replacements for the SMG, the Razorback being a single-use "get out of backstab free" card that slows you down when equipped and the Jarate being a jar off piss that, among other effects, causes opponents to take 35% extra damage from attacks when soaked.
- Spies got two new watches, both of which obviously replace the normal watch. The Dead Ringer doesn't allow you to cloak normally, but when it's activated and you're hit by an attack, the enemy will see a fake death and you'll instantly go invisible. The attack that "kills" you also does 90% less damage. The Cloak and Dagger is similar to the normal watch, but instead of picking up ammo you recharge cloak while standing still--even while already cloaked. The spy also got a new revolver called the Ambassador which has sniper rifle accuracy for the first shot and crits on headshots. It's awesome.
- Valve at first made these new unlockables only attainable through a random drop system, but after a while reinstituted their old achievement-based unlocks in addition to the drops.
- You can find hats. They don't do anything, but they're really rare. The trading system isn't in yet, and neither are the randomly generated unlocks.
- There were tons of other, smaller changes, essentially all of which are excellent. Play the game and check it out!
The TF2 blog and TF2 wiki are good.
I'm plugging this TF2 config even though most of you won't need it. It does rock, though.
