How much should I ask for?

I'm planning on selling one of my spare laptops on craigslist to pay for my trip to PAX this year (woo!) but I wasn't sure how much to sell it for, so I figured I'd ask my fellow PA'ers.

It's one of these, all the same specs except it's been upgraded to 2 gigs of RAM and is used, but in great condition.
I was thinking around $300, but I was told it could probably go for more.

Please help me H/A, you're my only hope!

Not that I have ever resold a laptop, but 300$ for a 4,000$ laptop sounds like an absolute steal. I think you can ask 30-60% of retail value for something like that.

Someone correct me if I'm way off mark, please.

Maybe if it was still 2005. It's depreciated considerably by now. Especially computer hardware.
You could get more than $300 I'm sure, start high and work down.

oh woops, I missed a few words there: namely 'S$' and 'at time of review'.

Check craigslist to see what other laptops are going for in your area, and also keep the ad up for a few days in order to entertain several offers.

I say you'd be lucky to hit 300$. I got my 2ghz dual core laptop with 3 gigs of ram les than a year ago and it only cost me 600$, new. Depends on the buyer, really.

Was that a tablet PC, though?

Yeah, I agree, the tablet feature makes this worth much more than $300. A figure like $600 is pushing it a bit, though.

Laptops depreciate like a mofo. Tablet or not, it's a pretty dated system.

300 sounds fair. I wouldn't go over 400 for it.
