I got mine out with just local anesthetic, a little pain and discomfort about 1-2 hours after I left the office, then no pain after that whatsoever
I planned some days off to recover, and I was actually bored just sitting around the house, wishing I was back at work
yeah keep that hole clean, do NOT mess with it, just swish water and be gentle with it when food gets in there
Man you got lucky. I looked like i had been punched in the face, they had to shoot me up with local like 4 times during the procedure. I was miserable and my pain meds made me throw up. it was awesome.

yeah I take pain well, I also don't react to pain meds easily
had to get like 6x the local anesthetic dose before it was numb enough to operate on
When I had mine taken out, they put me in twilight sleep, which is a step down from General Anesthesia, and as I was told, was a bit safer.
Mine had not broken through yet so that had to do all kinds of choppy cutting.
Sucks to have to do it with local only I bet...

Twilight sleep is creepy. When I had my wisdom teeth out they said I was looking around and responsive to questions and nodding and stuff, but to me it just felt like they stuck a tube in my arm and I woke up the next second with four missing teeth feeling really nice.

I think thats what was done to me, but they didn't call it that. THey said I wouldn't remember anything and from my perspective I would be "out" but they'd still be able to ask me to spit or open wider or move my tongue. As far as I knew, I was un-fucking-conscious.

Yeah, you are awake, just high as a kite. You just have no recollection of the event, it's like induced amnesia.
Good times for a couple hours once you start remembering things.
Edit:
Twilight sleep (English translation of the idiomatic[1] Dämmerschlaf) is an amnesic condition characterized by insensibility to pain without loss of consciousness, induced by an injection of morphine and scopolamine
Another question: how long does it take for dissolvable stiches to dissolve? I've gotten varying answers; five days to a week, two weeks etc...
Mine dissolved at different times. I think around the two week mark, there were two bits of stitches left, and I just took them out (they were barely hanging on to my gums anymore, anyway. I could feel they were just about done). They came out very very easily - I didn't yank them out or use any force, so I wouldn't recommend that. I'm pretty sure I still had all of mine at the 5 day mark, though.
Eventually after a week or two the stitches just fell out and I retrieved them from my mouth with my fingers. It'll happen by itself eventually - don't worry about it.
