Okay so here's my problem. The CC that I was attending before I transferred to university has started to offer a 4 year bachelor's degree of business admin(program is actually a couple years old). It has always been my goal to get a BBA and my original plan had me getting it at the university I just transferred but I didn't get accepted into their business school but rather got into their arts faculty. Problem is there isn't really anything that interests me in the arts faculty and I've always wanted to have a career in marketing.
So I actually have a couple questions:
1)Is it better to just stick with the more well known university and get an unrelated degree?
2)Will a degree from a community college actually get me employed?
Honestly, I would say if the degree you want is at the community college, then I would attempt to get the degree there. On the other hand, you could go to the CC, start work on the degree, and keep applying to the University for their program. Honestly, getting a degree in something that you don't like / don't want to do is pretty much worthless to you. Go with what you want to do.
What is the plan after getting this degree? If you are going to be carpet-bombing your resume to whoever is hiring, then having gone to some community college they probably have never heard of might hurt even if the degree is legit. I would look into other universities before going to a community college for four years. Don't get an unrelated degree from a real university instead of a related degree from a smaller college. Name recognition alone only goes so far.

The potential problem with this would be whether or not the credits would transfer. It could be the same exact class but the university wouldn't take it simply because they didn't teach it. I'd check with both schools and see what transfers and if you have a few that you can start taking in CC while you continue to apply then I'd go for it.
Is there any way to do the arts thing for a semester or two, get your GPA up, and then re-apply to the business school? My roommate did basically this.

I've thought about this but I feel that it is too time consuming. Also there is no guarantee that my GPA will rise so I've been on the fence about this path.

Well I plan to start working in Hong Kong ( I hold dual Canadian/HK ID). I should have some work experience coming out of college because I have a cousin that runs a pretty good business based out in HK and he said that I could work for him for a bit. This is basically the reason why I've considered going to the smaller college because if I can get my first job out of the way then from what Ive read, experience trumps college degree.
