Still Life 2

Developed by Microïds—of Syberia fame—Still Life 2 is a mystery adventure game that follows the original's Victoria McPherson in a new serial killer investigation. The story of the first game was influenced quite a bit from Jack-the-Ripper, and allowed you to see the story from two different characters. It seems that Still Life 2 is keeping up this bit, and supposedly finally reveals the killer from the original game.

Still Life 2 will be released in the US on August 10, but it's already out in Europe. A demo is available here.

Adventure Gamers has some impressions up in their forums from people who have played the German version. Consensus seems to be: Interesting, but not as good as the first. A few people say the original dev team created a better, more convincing atmosphere. And, for some reason, the game the resolution is locked in at 1024x768.

Oh man, I remember the original. I bought it shortly before getting shot of my 'puter so never got round to actually getting that far into it. The who double timeline thing was great.

    :O

I have to find a copy of Still Life now. I played it a long time ago, but I've since lost the discs.

The one thing I hated most about the story was that it broke the cardinal rule of murder mysteries:

THEY DIDN'T TELL YOU WHO THE KILLER WAS

I loved everything else, though, and if I finally get to find out, oh man, that's worth the price of admission.

    Bastards.
