TLTR: 15 foot diameter, 3 foot depth outdoor above ground pool. I want a heater to keep it warm at night.
Some friends and I purchased and set up a nice, cheap above ground pool for general 'chilling' and possible ridiculous shenanigans. I'm looking for possible options to heat this pool. Southwestern Ontario is warm enough in the summer that on nice days it should be fine, but we are very concerned about the temperature at night.
Looking for cheap options. Throwing a water-proof hot pot in is the kind of crazy we'd be willing to try. If you know of a nice heater (can solars work for this purpose?) that isn't 'ghetto', feel free to throw it out there and I'll explore the option.
A solar pool cover would probably be your best/cheapest option. Your pool holds about 4000 gallons of water, and heating then maintaining the temperature of that volume of water wouldn't be cheap if you're using an electric pool heater. Something like a waterproof hot pot wouldn't do the job either, since you'd need to be able to heat the water faster than it lost heat. Actual pool heaters involve water circulation, like a hot water heater in your house.
