Again, seriously.... When did EQ2 get pretty? I asked before and no one answered. I really want to know. Is that character a special case or is it all pretty now?

EQ2 was always pretty if you looked at certain parts of it.

The world as a whole looked pretty awful back in the day. Not sure if that's changed anyways.

I think in this case it's mainly the interesting armour design, though you could always make the game look decent if you took some care with vanity slots.

[edit] The world has its upsides and downsides (the new zones generally look better, they don't update old ones it seems). Old screenshot from 4 years ago, always thought it looked nice.

Some of the newer zones seem rather blah and the armor is hit and miss but with the help of appearance slots now my character does not have to look stupid.

The new battlegrounds armor looks nice for the most part. Really the biggest downside with it is that all the plate classes get the same armor and all the chain get the same ect. so eventually it will get harder and harder to pick out classes by look on the battlefield. If people use it with the visual for it that is.

Man, those were the days. Also, I know I post this every so often, but damn, there really are a number of very pretty older MMOs. These are my screens from DAoC, an MMO from 2001 thats seen a number of graphical updates but nothing too bleeding edge or anything. No bloom. No HDR, just a solid graphics engine.

I think they just look so awesome because we can finally crank up the graphics settings and resolution sizes without performance issues.

I'd love to play on a classic DAoC server with original frontiers, maybe with catacombs installed for the instancing/leveling/gear goodness it brought with it.

I really like the style on Allods. Yes, it's reminiscent of WoW, but it definitely has its own thing going on. The Sharpen filter also works amazingly well to get this incredibly crisp image, with no noticeable slowdown.

This looks nice, I'm getting some kinda european FFXI-feel from the screenies. At only 4gig it'll be worth a test at least.
But how the fuck are the Empire faction going to compete population-wise when not having any gibberling equivalent?

Haha this really is a russian WoW! Still, things look good and the whole thing seems really polished. Unfortunately it also seem to play on russian servers, reminding me of and surpassing the good old (read: bad old) days of WAR latency.

I was referring to the design, not like graphically pretty. And yes, I think that's a good armor design ESPECIALLY considering what I remember from the game. But from the other posts it seems more like that is a special case so, boo.

Woo, just hit lvl 10 on my Orc Scout, Guerrilla. I really like her armor now, and it fits her name. :P

I'm sort of bummed about my Bow though. I got the Nezebgrad reputation Bow, which is beastly, but looks plain. Whereas my previous one, the Police Officer's Bow, looked fucking awesome. Oh well. :(

I was going to take an action shot, but after grinding out the most soul-crushing reputation quest, to replace my previous absolutely hideous Helmet, I just didn't have the patience to pose her.

Also, the uninspired, boring character shot matches this most uninspired Chest armor well.

Yeah, that's what I think happened too. Like, one of the texture guys laid down the basic template, and then didn't have time to detail it out.

I've also had to get rid of some Paired Daggers the other day because they were completely untextured, and I wouldn't be able to stand looking at them for a couple of levels.

Even if it's meant to be just a plain tunic, check out the lack of wrinkles, for instance. As comparison, you can see them on the sleeves, but not on the tunic itself, even though they're part of the same item.

Some Fallen Earth love in this here thread I think, please excuse my computer, your's is probably better.
My character Maxeous at a humble level 4 with my first pistol aquired from Zanezville (note, I only have the six rounds the gun came with at this point, ammo is expensive, however I do have that garden hoe on my back I use for beating everything to death so its ok).
    image005ad.jpg

Just come to do another starter town and im gonna do Depot 66 because apparently It will net me another real pistol.
    image006mi.jpg

Its generally advised to do several starter towns when you start out so I will most likely do one of the crafting towns too afterwards.
    image007ao.jpg

But who knows what the future will hold for Max and his trusty steed Elimari, look me up if your in the Grand Canyon province and in need of some aid, till we meet again wastelanders.
