First, the cry for help. The Wireless 'broadband' offered by my building is shady as fuck. There's a number to call on a little flier downstairs, 2 guys came round and...I don't know what they did. I had the internet when they left. They gave me a key, seems to be for 64-bit encryption.
Anyway so far it's wildly unstable, but recently it's become even worse. MSN will sign in and out all day and all night, messages rarely go through, web pages stop loading after i've viewed 2-3...It's awful (Although the connection is always 'on', the recieved/sent packets totals barely move). Is there anything at all on my end that could be the problem? Suggestions of programs that analyse wireless connections would be good. I ask, because it's going to be alot of hassle even complaining, there's no ISP to speak of, i'll have to talk to the landlord, and I have more than an inclination she won't know anything about it...and so on. I'm hoping theres something I can do to at least stabilize it, instead of working with 'bursts' of connectivity.
Second thing i'll stick on to the end of this, is this: I've set up my olddddd Win 95 machine for my grandmother, when I realised she was paying for simple arcade games via a television service - it runs stuff like Lemmings adequately.
Is it possible to get this thing on the internet at all? I'm sure she could make use of email...56k would be fine, but obviously with the OS i'm not sure if it's possible any more.
