Often i want to start a thread about a new album or band's gigs etc. D&D seems to formal for this, but it would be good to chat with other PAers about music, with specific genres and bands in mind rather than cluttering up other forums.

Good idea no?

    There is a metal (called 'hesher' for some retarded reason) thread, a hip-hop/rap thread, an indie thread and there have been threads on Jamaican music, 80s rock and African music...they weren't as popular as the first three, though. D&D is perfectly ok for more general threads about genres of music, threads about just one band are going to be frowned up, though. Mostly because there's only so much you can say about Backstreet Boys.

    Also, D&D is not very formal at all, most threads are about TV shows, sports events and about how threesomes are totally awesome.

    One band threads are going to sit there like any other thread and probably slide into the back pages since they don't break any of the rules.

    Man, D&D is not a politics-only forum. There's threads about TV shows for Christ's sake.

    I do sometimes wish the debate was separated from the discourse. It is not a pressing concern of mine but it would be nice to have an easier time avoiding the political/serious business when you're not in the mood

    I don't see why we would need a specific music forum though.

    Splitting the D from the D would be as silly as when the T was split from the G.

    To be completely honest, I like it. The tech threads don't have nearly the post rate as the game threads and so any they general tech threads got swamped in G&T if they were even made at all.

    This. I'm not sure if splitting D&D would be good, but splitting G&T was a smart move.
