Trouble installing the latest Nvidia drivers for my card.
So earlier today I got an error while trying to run Team Fortress 2 that said "Unable to create D3D device." so assuming it was a driver issue I uninstalled my drivers (version 185.85) and ran a driver removal tool in safe mode. When I reinstalled the drivers I got an error that said "unable to load nvcpl.dll" not only that but when reinstalling I had to overwrite pretty much every file it was trying to install. I had assumed that everything in the directory would be uninstalled but I guess not.
After rebooting I got an error that said "Unable to find nvcpl.dll" and I am unable to access the nvidia control panel. I've uninstalled and reinstalled about 3 times and I've got the error every time. I've even tried downloading the .dll and placing it in the windows/system32 folder, but even that doesn't work and results in windows running extremely slow (the loading symbol is next to the cursor so I'm assuming it's constantly trying to load the .dll and it's the wrong one as it says in the file properties that it was created in 2003)). The next step I can think of is to reformat my windows partition, but I really don't want to do that.
I'm running Windows Vista 64-bit with two BFG Geforce 280's in SLI.

Yeah I did that. After multiple system restores everything works again. System restore seems like the only way to fix it.
