i'd say halo 2 is by far the better looking game due to its open areas and superior art direction. I mean, c'mon, the conduit is a corridor shooter. A reeeeeally narrow corridor shooter.
But that said, the conduit does pull of quite a few effects you couldn't find in games like halo 2.
anywho, where are the friend codes? shouldn't there be a wiki somewhere?

I think the main problem when it comes to the levels in The Conduit is the poor art design, not the graphics. The game looks fantastic...just bland at points.
Take Metroid Prime 3 for example. The beautiful art direction and level design made it, in my opinion, one of the best looking first person games this generation, even better than the holy duo of FPS. It was just beautiful to look at, where you would stop just to watch the scenery.
The Conduit doesn't have that...fortunately it seems to make it up in other areas though, like the praised online multiplayer.
Glen, I was on and you weren't playing. Guys, if you're going on, PM me and I'll head back on, but the pubs are boring me at the moment. Four consecutive first places, one with a single ACE match where I got all 5 caps in about 3 minutes. Getting better at this!
Figure we should talk about what controls we're using, too.
1) Put radar in middle of screen and set transparancy to 75 so you can see through it! Single best thing I did.
2) My controls:
Up: ASE (SP only, unimportant)
Left, Right, Down, A, B, 1, 2, Z, C: Defaults
-: Grenades (easy and fast to reach)
+: Reload (use less than nades and only when non-critical so put it somewhere awkward, save the easy buttons for critical actions)
Nunchuck shake: Melee (doesn't disrupt your aim to do!)
Wiimote shake: 180 pivot (when you pivot you don't have a target yet anyway, so screwing your aim makes no difference)
Turn speed ~30, Horizontal look 100, vertical look 75, dead space as small as possible. Change in controls has done wonders for my game.
I'd get wiispeak if yours worked, agoaj, but I couldn't hear what you were saying. The respawn timer beeping was louder than your voice.
I'd post my FC, but for no apparent reason my router and my Wii are having a disagreement, and I can't even get to the multiplayer menu to see my FC, let alone use it. I managed to get one match in, though. Killed some spastic bunny-hopping moron with my pistol, grabbed his SMAW, and proceeded to dominate all the terrible players in that pub. It was a little disappointing. Then my connection crapped out, which was more disappointing.
It doesn't work, it lets you add a friend of a friend to your list- say your friend joins my game, I can add him. Remade, Htown is in and I can almost hear him too!
Oh god explosives are lousy
Also figured out how to hear Wii Speak! Turn down all other volumes to really low in sound options!!! Htown is AFK, don't kill him. Or kill him a lot.
Glenn, you need to use your radar more dude. Try putting it in the middle of your screen with transparency. That's how I am sneaking up on you. Great games everybody, I am having SO much fun!
Problem with Wii Speak is that you only hear people talking if they're close to you.
Thanks for the fun everyone! That was fantastic! You guys are SO much better than the pubs and I could feel myself getting better just playing you!
Bwah? It's working now. A little laggy, but that might actually be my router. I noticed the Nintendo support page suggested turning off the firewall, which might help.
Yeah, the ending kind of annoyed me too, agoaj. I'm getting pretty sick of sequel-planning for new IPs. At least the ending wasn't too cliffhangery. The mysteries regarding Prometheus and the Drudge got cleared up, and Michael finished what he set out to do. There's just the annoying background plot that they want to stretch out.
Great. It's not the router, because it's working fine with other games. It's not my connection, because I'm typing this right now. But still, it keeps locking up or crashing when I'm trying to play online. This time, it tells me there's an error, suggests I look it up on the support pages, but then doesn't give me an error number.
Last night's matches were fun, except for the explosives one, which was stupid. I'm going to have to vote for weapons from now on just to make sure I don't have to play that nonsense.
You crazy. Explosives is the best weapon group. Well, okay, unless you're playing an ASE mode, where it immediately becomes the worst.
So, yeah, as my post indicates, online finally started cooperating with me, the 5th or so time I tried. Got into some matches with some interesting(read: terrible) players. I'm confident in saying that, despite what common sense would have you think, Free-For-All mode is the worst mode to choose for pubs. There's few things as frustrating as getting into a match with a bunch of shitcocks who vote for ASE or Bounty Hunter and play like it was deathmatch. At least if you're playing a team mode you're playing with a bunch of shitcocks who aren't shooting at you.
I did have a pretty interesting experience in team deathmatch though. Terrible players, as always, so I decided to spice things up and voted for Team Stock, Explosive weapons, and a small map just to see what would happen. Well, only Team Stock got through, but much to my surprise, as soon as the game started, people started thinking. They scanned the area before going into the open, they stayed near teammates, they retreated when the odds were against them. Even the terribaddest of the terribads was playing with some level of caution. I was rather impressed(though, it really says something if signs of conscious thought are enough to impress).
Mostly lurk around here, but I think I'll give my 2 cents on this game. I've been playing mostly the single player due to problems with my internet connection so I can't really judge the MP yet. Anyway, here are my thoughts about the single player.
Good graphics, mediocre art. I'm not going to beat a dead horse over the art.
Controls are pure sex. Once again, going to shut up about this because I feel the above posters accurately reviewed them.
After playing a few levels on "Guarded" and "Elevated", AI seems to scale with the levels. The AI loves to use grenades, charge their weapons, and seem to be pretty good at flanking. Some troops will lie behind cover shooting you from afar while some charge your position forcing you to retreat. Don't want to compare this game to Halo because it has a different feel, but the AI is about as intelligent as the AI from Halo 3. It provides enough of a challenge to make you say "OH SHIT!" without being cheep.
Level design is very repetitious. A level seems to have about four unique areas each repeated at least three to four times. A little more uniqueness here might have forced their art design to not suck.
The writing for the game is god awful. MIBs fighting aliens full of betrayals had potential to make an amazing storyline. Like most FPS's, the potential is ruined by terrible dialog. Good thing it doesn't make the game less fun.
the weapons in this game. So far no single weapon seems to be alike. They seem to allow you to use various tactics in multiplayer but I can't comment on this since I've only played in half of a multiplayer match.
So far, I really love this game. I think it's a great game that just falls short of being a masterpiece. I'll post my friend code here shortly after I get a few random matches under my belt.
I don't know, I thought the dialogue was fine. The three guys you listen to through 95% of the game do well enough at least. I think you might be right about the AI scaling, too. I started playing on the second hardest difficulty, and it at least appeared that enemies varied their tactics a little bit more. There were a couple times when they tried to ambush me coming through a door, and most of the time when I'd retreat they'd fall back themselves and spread out behind cover to wait for me to come back.

Yeah, voice acting is good, the written dialog/plot is pretty meh. But I'm really starting to like the AI. You can really tell that the designers spent most of their effort working on the game engine and AI rather than the other less important details in the game.
I picked it up yesterday and love it. I adjusted the controls a little bit. I haven't tried the multiplayer yet but I might tonight or tomorrow depending if I feel my skill in the game is good enough.

But to be fair, I'm not as into online gaming as other people tend to be.

I don't like Animal Crossing, so no WiiSpeak for me. Then again, I didn't think The Conduit would use it.

That kicked ass! What do you guys think? Again, or to a pub?
Also, still can't really hear you agoaj. I can hear "hello".

Good games, guys. I did way better then I'd hope for. This is my first real online shooter experience, you know.

Don't have a Wii or anything, but this thread title...amazing.

I'm only on mission 4 still, please don't spoil too much (you haven't, but just saying).
It's a conspiracy.

It's the first level of Deus Ex!

Pretty sweet game.
