This game does a pretty good job of putting you in matches with people of equal skill level. I'm not dominating any more. Still placing highly for the most part, but not dominating, and there are a few people who dominate me.

Yeah, agreed - I'm a pretty horrible player, but so far I've never been in a match where everyone straight up destroys me.
Man, just reading this thread means I truely have to convince my wife that she needs to buy me this. (She's got the giftcard hidden from me so I don't buy it myself already)
Just picked this up. Gonna go ahead and agree with everyone else, the controls are fantastic and the graphics are pretty damn good for that little box. Like most shooters, it looks a lot better in motion than it does in screenshots. Haven't tried playing online yet, I'll post my fc when I do.
Hey guys long time lurker and first time poster. Looking for conduit ppl to play so i'll be entering in FC for a bit and I hope you will all add mine as well.
I've changed my mind about the explosive weapon set. It's good fun if you're just goofing off for a few minutes, but after like 3 matches in a row with it, I'm already sick of it.
Been getting pretty weak reviews on the big sites...I really wanted to be excited for this, but it seems like there's a lot of hating going on out there... :-\

Though to be fair, it sure seems like a lot of the reviewers hating on it kind of went in expecting to hate on it and looked for points to verify their opinion. It's hard to tell, though, since other reviews and impressions are kind of going the opposite way.
Ultimately I was just as guilty of kind of pooping on the game for my own initial impressions of how it looked, but I'm glad people that picked it up are genuinely enjoying it. I've pretty much stopped bothering reading reviews of Wii games entirely—partially because the nature of IR pointer/motion controls are so particular it's hard to know if a reviewer's experience will match your own, but mostly because the games press is too busy fighting Console Warz to just let games be games.

Yeah, that's very true. I guess I was hoping people would be more excited and would be looking for things to like about this game..but I guess Conduit is a sort of whipping child on the "exclusive FPS" lineup for the Wii.
Thread's full of people who are excited and have found a lot of things to like. Reviewers aren't the ones fragging each other daily here, they just play story mode as quickly as possible, and likely with a judgment already in mind.
And yeah, I don't hate reviewers, they're just doing their own thing which is unfortunately not often helpful. Does it seem possible that a game like the Conduit could ever receive a 10/10? If not, they're not using the same scale for all games. They essentially score a game based on what they expect the public will see and not what the game deserves. I'm not saying the Conduit deserves better either, just that this is the gaming press for you.
Yeah - Sporky you're right. I was pretty much fully expecting the 6-7 range to come out of these review sites, so it makes me happy that this thread is basically 10 pages of love for the game. I think my conclusion would be to wait for the 30$ mark and enjoy it for what it is..
So lets talk control options? I've got default going right now and was wondering what are some of the customizations that you guys are making?
Well, my controller has an issue with shutting off for a few secondes when I press -, so I mapped it to the ASE and down to reload. Next grenade and next weapon is standard with spin the up button. I mapped + to zoom and 1 & 2 for score and pause. Crouch and target are still on the nunchuck. Motion controls are default.
As for the HUD, I followed an above posters advice and put my radar in the middle with about 20% transparency. My health bar is also a little bellow it and my ammo/grenades are a little to the left.
Anyway, since I remembered I have batteries and put them in the controller that doesn't shut off when I press -, I'm thinking about remapping the controls again. I'm thinking about making - target and c to zoom since my left index finger is usually on crouch since I usually prefer to fire from cover rather than bunny hopping.
Also a quick aside, I like how bunny hopping is handled with the wiimote. I find that bunny hopping makes it just as hard to shoot people as it is for them to shoot you. Makes it balanced between those who want to play strategically and those who want to run and gun.
And to be fair to the reviewers, most of them that I read have valid points. Yes, I can see how grenade controls get a little annoying since you can occasionally throw one while adjusting your hand movements (granted, you could probably fix this by adjusting the sensitivity, but I'm lazy and so are most people). Yes, the single player art and level design won't win any awards and if I was judging the game based mostly on the single player experience, I would recommend a 6 or 7 out of 10 but encourage it as a rent.
Anyway, I think most reviewers aren't slamming the game because of "teh consule warz!!1" but because for the first glance reviewers give to the game (say eight hoursish at the most), the game is quite mediocre. The multiplayer is what makes the game a complete blast.

Most people here aren't the usual guys who were bitching about its lack of originality for two years.
These are people who just play cool games and can enjoy them at face value.
And that is why I love you all above other forum goers. :^:
