    Meh.

moving to strike this word from the vocabulary of the entire world

You all laughed when I said how much I hate 'meh.'

    Now do you see?
    yes, no more meh

this is excellent, but now that I've seen all three I'm voting Automata, but it's a tough choice
can I move to strike 'welp' as well? it makes me want to hit people.

    more than usual.

I am going to vote for the Lookouts

and maybe I'll work up some scratch and commission a golden book because I just love the idea of fantasy boyscouts so very much

maybe it's cause I have nephews

I'm up in the air between Lookouts or Automata, but I think I place this one as a definite third. It really feels like a comic about somebody's role play character - I'm sure it's funny if you were in the game, but it doesn't really stand alone well.

Honestly -- I feel that this one Jim comic has pretty much wrapped up Jim for me. It really doesn't need expanded upon.

Auto or Lookouts however left me wanting more. I really liked Lookouts, but I think I am going to vote for Automata just because its so different from the usual PA continuity comics.

This one didn't grab me nearly as much as the other two

Maybe because D&D ain't my thing I guess

    I gotta go with Automata

This is silly. There's nothing about D&D in the comic. You wouldn't know it had the slightest thing to do with D&D if they hadn't told you in advance.

I laughed a lot at this, but I'm also not all that interested in seeing where it goes from there. That one page is enough for me on this story.

It's pretty much a toss-up for me between the other two.

Yeah but if they continue with this storyline about a D&D character I just foresee a certain number of D&D related in-jokes or references and such which I don't think I'd appreciate as much as anything they could do with the other two concepts

I know, I'm just nitpicking, and I'm probably wrong, but I just really want to see more Automata

Meh, revolving door death system and all that.

Death means very little in the DnD reality. If the guy really wants to get his wife back he can become an adventurer -- kill a few Goblin nests and get her raised.

A high perform skill can make whole crowds bend to your will. Everyone should have a few ranks. Makes the 'Traveling Circus Performers' cover work incredibly well.

    Yes.

Very funny, but way too similar to normal PA.

I'm aware that all three will eventually be made, but I really want Automata to win just so everyone knows it's the best. I just want it to beat the other two.

Also I really want to know more about Carl and his world right now. When are they doing the winning comic again? Was it during Comic-Con or something?

At this point I think I might be leaning towards Automata. Of the three, I was most drawn to the visuals of Lookouts. The film noir look of Automata didn't really appeal to me and Jim Darkmagic was the smallest departure from Gabe's normal stuff. Darkmagic is obviously the comedy arch, and since the primary reason I come to PA is for the funny I instinctively want to vote for it. But, for me, Automata has the most appealing narrative possibility. Out of all the main characters, I most want to see where Automata goes. Add on the fact that Gabe said it was the most difficult for him, and we all saw what happened last time he went outside his comfort zone (with his canvas work) and I'm really left with only one choice.

I didn't get that from Lookouts at all. I thought both Lookouts and Automata were both pretty serious in tone and Jim was the comic relief.

i just now went and read Lookouts, that one looks really cool too. reminds me of the hobbit meets D&D meets the boy scouts

i'd be happy with any of them, i like automata although it might get kinda awkward what with being so srsbsns. the "funny" in this one felt kinda forced but i love jim darkmagic so whatever

    Automata
    Jim Darkmagic

And I must note, Darkmagic lost out primarily because for some reason that comic felt somehow Buckley-esque.

This comic was pretty amusing, but I think Lookouts takes it for me. It has the largest cast, and all the characters seem like they'll become decently fleshed out personality wise. Automata was neat, though I admit to not fully getting the raging hard on some people have for it. Lookouts has the more interesting concept to explore and the most potential to succeed in exploring it, in my eyes.

    Automata (though this looked awesome)

Is it just me or does Jim Darkmagic seem like he could be the brother of the ranger who was leading the troop in Lookouts?

    That could be cool...

    Damn, that's a low blow.

Didn't you take it as Jim being a sort of satire, or at the very least a caricature, of the Buckley-esque character? Why am I even using the term Buckley-esque...What does that even mean?

Being that I am playing a ton of DnD right now (Actually I am DMing), I can't help but ask why didn't he just use cantrips?

Cantrips deal no damage, they are basically for stuff like that.

Also the chick he kills is hot.

As much as I liked the look of Automata, I feel like the components of it have already been done (noir robot detective/robots as second class citizens/machine intelligence in the 1920s), whereas Lookouts feels (to me anyway) like it might have something new to bring to the genre. The tone in that Lookouts comic was set perfectly.

I feel like Jim Darkmagic has potential for some interesting gags, but I know where I'm voting.
