Hey quick question that I hope some one can help me with. I am looking for a website where I can post pictures of my kids (expecting twins!) so the not close to us family members can look at them. Here is the catch...
1.) I don't want these pictures indexed on search engines
2.) I want to control who can see the pictures
3.) I don't want people to have to sign up for anything to see the pictures... password enabled is the only way I can come up with for this.
For a bit of background...
I currently have a flickr account that a few of the family members use, but others in the family WILL NOT sign up with flickr in order to see the pictures.
I would love this website to be free to use. If that is not available I would be willing to pay no more than 50 a year for the service.
Probably not what your looking for but with facebook you can send people links to specific albums, they don't need a facebook account. You could put privacy on the album so not even your facebook friends could see the album. I have no clue about search engines though. I'm sure it would be out there somewhere....
I've been using Google's picasa. A quick look at their privacy setting found this.
The way I read it, it sounds like you could set everything to private and email the people you wanted to see and they would have access. Not exactly sure how it would track who is coming from the email and that they are allowed, but could be worth looking into.
Picasa. You can upload an album and set its privacy to "unlisted". Then you can send out a link with an auth token on the URL, and they can see your pictures without having to sign up for anything.
RandomEngy on
Profile -> Signature Settings -> Hide signatures always. Then you don't have to read this worthless text anymore.
Sign-in required to view - The users you add here can use their Gmail login to see pics. No different then Flickr in that users need to register to login. Not sure what happens if you invite a non-Gmail account.
Unlisted - Creates a complicated URL that needs to be enterred to access the album/photo (security through obscurity). Anyone who has the URL can see the pictures (anyone to whom you send the URL can let anyone they want see the pictures). You can change the URL anytime you want, though you will have to resend it out to whomever you want to view the pictures.

edit: Or how about a Dropbox folder? Or even a Skydrive folder, they can be used for anything you want so they're not photo-specific.
