This message is to give everyone a heads up that on Tuesday, March 2nd we will be shutting down the Test Server for Issue 17 "Dark Mirror" Closed Beta.
Man. Movin' right along with stuff. Neato.
*waits impatiently for the beta access notice*
But yeah they seem to be really fast tracking these updates, and they seem a lot more polished then past betas. i17 will probably be the real test though since its more then just a powerset. I was shocked at how fast dual pistols beta went and at how tight the set was.
It's honestly a pretty basic blast set. There's the quick recharge/light damage power, the slower recharge/medium damage power, the short range big damage, AoE, cone, nuke, the only thing that makes it stand out at all is swap ammo, and I'm not really giving a shit about being able to swap your ammo between spawns (there's animation time and the toggle are on 4 second reloads, it was said directly that the power isn't meant to be used mid fight). Plus, it doesn't swap out ALL your ammo, just 30% of it. And the secondary effects are unehanceable except for the -def, so yeah.
Oh and there's redraw to deal with. So overall I'm going to say it's looks good but is functionally dull as shit.

That's what I've heard so far. And that while it's not a gimpy set, we're talking something on par with radiation and psy, not fire and archery. At least it's better than elec.

Wait what? Since when has Archery been a top-tier blast set?

Since they adjusted the draw speed?
The set's a late bloomer, but Rain of Arrows is probably the single best overall AoE damage ability in the entire game. Overall, the set has a ton of AoE damage output and strong single-target. It handles a bit different than fire, but it is very much fire's equal.
I've heard it's actually pretty decent, and would like to see what you guys think.
I like it myself, it looks amazing, its speedy and the ammo types give you utility that can keep it interesting, least for me. Being able to swap ammo types to the situation is nice. As a set is also meshes well with a lot, it does well as a blapper or as a blaster, and its fun on a corr overall.
It definitely knocks the socks off AR as far as "fun" goes.
Also stupid NCsoft store being offline so I can't prepurchase going rogue yet *shakes fist*
It looks cool anyway, especially the nuke. Suppressive fire is kind of goofy though, that is not how suppressive fire works. Is Demon Summoning out yet?
Suppressive fire is pretty assy it's the only power in the set that I'd skip every single time. No sign of Demon Summoning yet but it's coming.

Do I look like the sort of man who'd go and find unsuspecting Japanese schoolgirls in short skirts and white panties and ask them if they want to see my "Cthulu Special"?
Minor Lethal damage
disorient with lethal ammo
hold if cryo, incendiary or chemical ammo
It's an incredibly weak mez too, I don't believe I've ever seen it work unless two or more DP characters hit it at about the same time and it's single target. Every other power in the set is better than it.

I like Piercing Rounds, especally because I can use it in my argument that Brute's need Dual Pistols :winky:

I teamed with 5 DP/* blasters last night and thought they looked kind of dumb. All of them seemed to be going for the trenchcoat/cowboy look and the animations for the powers all looked like they were auditioning for Wanted 2
The game doesn't seem to like Windows 7. The only changes I've made since the last time I played are the OS and my HDD, and the game is flickering like crazy when I start it up.
Are you using an ATi card? There's a bug that causes the game to flicker when using full screen. There is a hotfix out for it if you don't want to play in windowed mode.

Eh, I like it.
And as for the animations? Sure, they're over the top. But a hell of a lot more interesting than the generic, reused ones we see.
"Rest" gives you 1 pez of xp per day logged out for up to 10 days. Basically you have have up to one level of rest xp at a time.
Also on double xp weekends your rest xp doesn't go away. So if you head into double xp weekend with 10 pez of rest xp and you don't die (rest xp burns off debt, so if you die you lose rest xp) then come monday you'll have 10 pez of rest xp.
I played for a bit, I made an archery/archery corr and it's just all been done. There's not enough to do in this game once you've done it. Unless GR introduces something mindblowing then yeah, I'm hanging up my whatever.
Not to add to the depress-fest, but pretty much agreed. Plus, now that I've gotten a good system and can play modern games at high settings, it's showing its age to me more than ever. Games have changed a lot in the past 6 years.
It's still my favorite MMO to play with a group, but the moment the group's gone, my motivation to play completely evaporates.

Well, I just popped in for a second, but I didn't see many people on, and no one I knew. I think a lot of us former long term player are in the same place, there's just nothing much in the way of new content to play through, and AE, I don't think really grabbed us much. Right now I'm back in LOTRO for a bit, and there's just more new stuff for me to explore in other games.
I do plan on getting Going Rogue, but how much content that serves up will determine how long I stay.
I had intended to drop in at some point for old times' sake, and even had two free days in which to do so, but there's just not enough there to draw me back in. I definitely plan on checking out GR when it hits, but for now I'm just not feeling the MMO bug.

Maybe they've expanded the QA shop?

It certainly looks fabulous, but I only played it to level 4 or so with a trial account. No idea how it will turn out long term.

It starts out a little slow, but near the halfway point it goes straight into some equilibrium gun-kata shit that's pretty fun to watch.
They added a second gun.

It was buffed with the patch. But its still a meh power.
Woo single target hold. <--- sarcasm here
But again i'm one of the few people that loves piercing rounds and throwing/punching the gun to make the bullets go harder.
Also prepurchase is up:

Now I just need a namefor that DP/Storm corr that isn't already taken.
Game on! Game on!
Reactivation and double-xp weekend just started.

finally finished my Patron arc on redside, about 3 bubbles away from 50
but the game just feels like I've done it all before, I don't think a new coat of paint is gonna bring me back
looks like I'll be moving on
been a hell of a ride, though
