The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
The film is most noted for the final sequence - a wonderfully-choreographed custard pie fight - that utilized an entire day's output of the Los Angeles Pie Company.
So, I posted my latest keeper photos into the photo thread in the artist's corner, right?
But every time I post in there, it's just focused on the negatives of the shots. It's not like with some of the other guys, where everyone is just "oh my god that is so awesome", with my stuff it's always "here is everything that is wrong with your image". And I do want critiques and criticisms, but when I don't ever get a "but it's still a great image" or a "wow, this one has more potential but it's already fantastic", or even just a "fix this and that and it'll be an awesome photo", it really brings me down and drains me of my enthusiasm for continuing.
The worst part is, it wouldn't even be so bad if I was the only one posting photos. But I have to watch as some other dude gets nothing but praise while I come in and everyone acts like I'm the leper who just pissed himself!

So what you're saying is AC is petty and cliquish.
What's the sub-genre of science fiction that touches on totally automated production, infinite raw materials, and so forth? (Complete loss of the need for a workforce, currency, etc)

Yal you're not new here. You know better.
Even if it is, which I consider a distinct possibility, it still leaves me feeling down.

there are no "ifs". It IS. And it should leave you feeling down. Constructive Criticism includes praising what is good.

So...Got any solution besides finding some other place with people I can actually trust?
it kind of sounds like you're taking it too hard

I haven't looked at Yal's post and replies, but used to read (just read. I am not artistic in the slightest) AC fairly regularly. I found their comments generally nasty and hateful.
You have your nice guys in there but I swear a lot of people in there are hellbent on breaking spirits. It's almost as if they're trying to keep out any type of competition.
And if you dare ever say something like that, they attack for not being able to take criticism. It's the perfect con.

Honestly, I probably am, but still. It fucking sucks to work on something, create something you feel really proud of, and when you show it to people, they just tell you all the fucking things wrong with it without even acknowledging the work that went into it, or it being a cool concept, or ANYTHING!
Ah well dystopian works, I guess, but I thought there was a more specific term.
Actually, I think it would be the opposite. All needs provided for, everything automated, no more money because nobody lacks for anything--that's utopian, not dystopian.
Of course, you could toss in oppressive rule and make it a dystopia anyway if you wanted; however, just based on what you described, utopian science fiction is the closest term to what you're looking for.
Edit: Or, yeah, post-scarcity, although I don't know if that's considered a genre.

Easily deserves the 8 out of 10's it is getting in review land. Right now I am rating it 9 out of 10.
I didn't realize I had gotten the post so I panicked. I wasn't going for it.
that was intolerable
You can never have too much [Chat]man.
Elki should start "stealing" [chat]s and naming them after dance words.
