Were you not able to take the pistol with you, Striker?

I've still got his Laser Pistol and jacket on me and I've been through all of the DLC so far.

I guess you can, but for the life of me I can't remember where in the DLC he shows up again. When is it?

    [Edit] ACK! Now I remember...
Stupid me, I was thinking he only showed up the first time at the purifier, and again at Enclave HQ. I entirely forgot that he's waiting for you at the purifier when you go through the last mission in the normal game

I wasn't aware that he did, I just iced him right before "the end" of the game (before Broken Steel technically picks up) and just looted his jacket and laser pistol there. I've had them ever since.

That's what I did as well and how I ended up with his weapon and jacket.

I didn't know you could just let him go, I basically just killed him.

I had forgoten that you do actualy get to take his coat and pistol in the original game, you just never get to use them becuase the game ends right afterwards.

any word on an official release for the DLC for the PS3?

    via wiki:

However, in May 2009 Bethesda announced that the existing DLC (Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt and Broken Steel) would be made available for the PlayStation 3; along with two new pieces of DLC (Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta) for all platforms.[55] There will be a Game of The Year edition of Fallout 3 which includes the full game and the complete set of all five DLCs. It is expected to be released in the U.S. sometime in October; however an exact release date has yet to be announced by Bethesda.[56]
I read on one of the Fallout wiki's that the first DLC (Anchorage) should be available "end of June." I have my fingers crossed for this weeks update but expecting to be disappointed...even though I'm only level 11, exploring the wasteland before finding Three Dog on my first play-through :P
No O:A for PS3 today, and no release date other than "soon"

A question about Broken Steel: I understand it allows you to continue the game after the original ending; do you get to take Colonel Autumn's laser pistol with you? I enjoyed the few moments I had to play with that gun.

I don't have any of the DLC and am playing the 360 version if that matters.

You get to keep Autumn's laser pistol, but after installing Broken Steel, it's nowhere near as fun as you'll remember it being

    Really

They took the rapid-fire off it

Bethesda should have saved their cash on Liam and hired some genuine voice talent like Billy West or Mark Hamil, people who can give you a good vocal range and variety of characters. Hell half of Futurama is basically Billy West having conversations with himself.
Or Maurice LaMarche. The man is a legend.

Seriously, give the career voice actors some work and stop hiring Flashy McPaycheck. There are so few who can really reliably pull it off. Even Liotta, who I was super excited to hear about when I first read that he was going to be in Vice City, wasn't really terribly impressive. He's a great actor, I've enjoyed everything I've seen of his work, but it seems to be difficult for stage and screen actors to properly display their talents strictly over the microphone.

The above is all painfully true. Really, Bethesda needs to start getting people to do voice work that are either outright professionals, like Billy West or Maurice LaMarche, or get voice work done by lots of people.

I use a mod that makes stimpacks release healing over time so you can't just spam them to heal up in an instant. Much more 'realistic' and dangerous.

So I started my fifth run-through last week, to have something to do while waiting for Lookout to be released. This is the first time I've played from the start with Broken Steel installed. (Did the BS runs with one of my lvl20 chars.)

Yay, difficulty! (In a good way.)

When you start running into Overlords and Reavers and you're only at level 15 or so, and completely Fawkes-less, woah! Fun stuff.

(Though I've decided to go get Fawkes as quickly as possible, as I don't think I can do the heavy Super/Ghoul areas (like Dunwich, Museum of Technology, Saving Independence, etc.) without him, 'cause I just know they're going to toss in a couple of the big bad's.)

It's not for me, mind you... I just can't keep Charon from hopping up and down in front of their faces saying "nyaah nyaah, you can't kill me, oh wait, you can"

Is Fawkes some sort of Reaver/Overlord killing god?

I only have Dogmeat, and Reavers fuck me up good. They have so much health! I can't imagine dealing with multiple ones.

In Broken Steel, I found Dogmeat died an awful lot. I must be up to his sixth puppy or so.

Fawkes is truly invincible. I saw four Reavers attack him, and he destroyed all of them while losing maybe 10% of his health. Remember everyone, if you want combat to be difficult, don't use Fawkes!

Oh hey, there's a new version of MMM out.

Among other things, it makes it so that Wanamingos don't spawn until you're at least level four. Which is pretty nice. Last game I started I headed towards Tenpenny Tower immediately and came across two of those fuckin' things. No ammo, no armor, no skills... I didn't stand a chance. Plus they're so goddamn fast you can't outrun em.

edit: Oh and 1.6 breaks FOSE, there's a new version here I'm trying right now.

edit edit: Yep, the new version of FOSE works, I'm going to update the link in the OP.

"Taking fire! I've been hit! My head! Ow!"

Bitch, just shut up and kill something already!

I started this run through with Cross (as early as I could get her, at least), and got tired of her and her whiney-ass attitude... and her wimpy infinite-ammo laser pistol. Switched over to Charon, figuring I'd outfit him in power armor, and maybe he'd be able to kill things with his default weapon. But he's really into the whole "let's melee with the Overlord" game -- and it's not a game that he's very good at.

Took a boat trip to Point Outlook at lvl 10 for some goodies.
Picked up x3 Double-Barrel Shotguns, x3 Axes and the Pint-Sized Slasher Mask from the Hotel. Lockpicked a few safes, Then headed for the Ghoul Ecology Perk :D
Only ran into Creepers (which netted me a Lever-Action Rifle) and Mirelurk Hunters, Going to head back now though. Not going to push my luck with Tribals.

    It's not you.

I went into Point Lookout at Level 30 with the Winterized T-51b armor and using the Lincoln Repeater on the tribals in the mansion. And I still never would have made it without the Grim Reaper's Sprint perk and a shitload of stimpaks.

That would be horrifying beyond comparison. Consider that Fawkes is meant to be a regular Super Mutant. Imagine what a Deathclaw NPC would be like. You'd barely be able to kill anything before it vanishes in a bloody haze.

Whoever does these companion mods needs to figure out a way to have companions not piss off otherwise-friendly NPCs when they accidentally shoot them in a firefight.

I'm playing with super huge spawns (MMM), and it was a real treat to have like 15 BoS dudes attacking me around the Washington monument because one of them got in the way of a companion shooting at the super mutants.
