So, around release I bought Fallout 3 for the PC. Barely touched the thing cause I found most combat outside of VATS to be boring. On the other hand, I do like sneaking. I love sneaking around in a business suit and fedora picking locks, hacking computers, killing folks in their sleep. The only problem is it's kinda hard to get to a sneaking situation.
So help me out. I'm into pistols, sneaking, stabbin', and the occasional being a badass. Basically I wanna be Fallout Sam Fisher. What stats should I go for (besides the obvious like sneak), what mods should I download if any to help me get to sneak man 2009, and should I buy Op. Anchorage/Broken Steel so I can get higher level cap or phat loots?
Has anyone made a shambling ghouls mod yet? I'm on Xbox, so I'd never be able to use it, but something that slowed down their movement, made them harder to notice in cramped areas and required headshots to kill them would be great.
I believe the way the system works would make that impossible.
you should know by now that nothing is impossible.
absolutely nothing

Excuse me while I go wash my eyes with bleach.
Holy god, forget the bleach, I need some steel wool and acid.

Anchorage has the stealth suit. I can't find a version of the Splinter Cell stealth suit on Nexus. Other than that, there isn't much that would be useful for a stealthy character in Operation Anchorage. You can easily get to the maximum skill levels for the important stealth skill without the increased level cap.

I read that's being written by former PC Gamer editor-in-chief and Fallout fan Gary Whitta, or something.
You can tell there's a ton of green sceen being used in that trailer, some of it looks very similar to broken highways in fo3, was half expecting to see megaton.

So having just lost my father, that bitch kicks me out of the only home I've ever known, too? After I went to all that trouble to make things right with the Overseer.
Oh, people are mad at me, are they? They seem a lot angrier at each other from where I'm standing. What good's throwing out the only guy who knows how to protect them when they venture into the outside world gonna do?
So pissed off I threw her present on the floor and shot her father on the way out.
She may have had a point about me being a bad influence
so i showed them the skills i had learned, and the things i had found on the outside
i showed them with extreme prejudice
yeah pretty much this.
i actually did that quest really late in the game first time, cause i didn't even think to check the radio. i was the world's ultimate badass at that point. no petty vault troubles are gonna slow me down.

I hated that quest because even thought everybody thought you were now a savage monster from the wasteland, they never the less had no problem being smug and insulting to the guy in power armour, holding a plasma rifle being backed up by a giant super mutant.
At what point would talk shit to or threaten this man with a submachine gun seem like a logical approach?
edit: that book of Eli trailer looked cool up until the bullet time arrows and Eli being a post-apocalyptic 20 dude fighting ninja. Don't get your over the top action movie in my Post-Apocalypse... Unless your name is Max and your sanity is questionable.
Yea, I was there in power armor, pointing a shotgun to his chest. Cross was behind me, also in power armor. And the dumbass decides to pull a 10mm on me. I think Cross killed him before he even had it out of his holster.
It was a real "sometimes AI/scripting sucks" moment.
I think the game needs an "Intimidating" stat based on your equipment, level and companions. Something to make people think twice.

Hell they could make it an extra conversation option for anytime somebody is threatening you and you're in power armour.
"Okay thats nice, tell you what, i'm just going to stand here and let you plink away with your little cap-gun until you get it out of your system or run out of ammo"

Yes, yes, YES. This is pretty much my one complaint in FO3 - no one is ever afraid of you. For instance (Paradise Falls...'spoiler', I guess)
after completely destroying each and every slaver in Paradise Falls as brutally as possible, I went to kill Eulogy Jones. I would have absolutely loved if he cowered in fear and begged for his life, and if I was able to talk to him and tell him I'm going to kill him or something. Instead, he just pulls out his little pistol, without saying a word, and I melt him.
Considering the 'only look out for myself/chivalry and valor are REALLY dead' attitude of the Wasteland, I think it would make a lot of sense for people to really fear for their lives, especially when they have no chance of beating you in combat.

I think you are thinking of a mod that puts Krystal from Star Fox in. o_O

Yeah, I tried the whole sidestep+headshot routine that worked so well against supermutants and their nailboards.
not so much against deathclaws
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
I still hope for a conversion to fo3 of the oblivion pubic hair shaving and styling mod.
The joke is that the mod is not a joke and actually exists. :?

The town was pretty much Canterbury Commons.

i don't think he even scratched the paintwork

Agreed. It would be a nice 10th skill, too.

Later in the game they don't last long enough to be wounded, of course. :P
I kinda regret killing him when I escaped now
That would have been far more satisfying
