I just got this as well, what level are the bad guys at? I have two level 25 characters having done almost everything, and I'm wondering if it wouldnt be a challenge unless i made a new guy.

I took one of my most bad ass guys (from a damage causing point of view) at level 20 to point lookout and I'm getting my lungs handed to me. The blackhawk I usualy use isn't even cutting it any more, unloading a whole round of vats into a tribal's head will often not bring them down.
They made point lookout hard. It's meant to duff over most PC's
The enemies are pretty tough, lots of ghoul reavers, some of the hillbillies have tons of health, and the tribals swarm you and do good damage. Probably harder than anything else in the game except for multiple overlords.
Yeah things don't really drop in one round of VATS anymore, which I'm glad for. Big Guns is actually the most powerful skill now, as it should be (especially with the heavy incinerator and vengeance with superior defender).
It was a little too powerul before the DLC when everything in the game went down in one VATS session with the plasma rifle/lincoln's repeater. Try killing a reaver with lincoln's repeater now!
lol sweet. so these mutant hillbillies can hold their own against my max melee and unarmed level 24 super bitch wearing power armor? thats hilarious. must be the dirty overalls.
i love how this kinda thing FAILED in oblivion.. but in fallout? IT WORKS

I just know from a damage dealing aspect, things in point lookout are very very durable.
My first combat was with a group of three feral dogs. Blasted one with the shot gun and it kept coming. After a desperate struggle, I found myself nearly dead and surpounded by dead dogs, reflecting on the fact that they weren't screwing around when they said it would be hard.
But on the plus side, Confederate war era hats are in bountifull supply
I haven't played any of the DLC yet and it's going to be like getting a whole new fuckin game

I have the PC version and haven't bought a single piece of DLC yet, should I wait for an inevitable DLC bundle that has everything included or should I really buy one or two of the better ones now?
Well, I don't know what they will cost all bundled up together, but I'd dexpect all 4 at a discount to be more expensive than just two that you want.
-If you need an expanded elvel cap to have fun the you want broken steel
-If you want some of the whacky gear like the stealth suit and gauss rifle then you want operation anchorage (this seems the least required on the PC since you can cheat to get things like power armor training, or stealth boys with unlimited time limits and such already)
-The Pitt is... nifty. There's some cool gear for doing the fetch quest. But again, on the PC, nifty gear is one simple (and free) mod away
-Point look out adds a bunch of new places to explore, so this one (and to a lesser extent, The Pitt) are the only ones modding can't really replace.
There are quite a few new unique weapons in Point Lookout as well as a nice new hat:
Backwater Rifle - unique lever-action rifle (quite powerful), Dismemberer - unique Axe, you get this from the arena/safari quest, Ritual Knife - stuck in the head of a corpse when you go looking for the book. I hope to find a unique double barrel. Pint-sized slasher helmet? Yes please!

Oh yea, I compleetly forgot about the pint sized slasher helmet! I've no use for it what so ever, but it's nice that they finaly put it in outside of tranquility lane.
Is there any place in point lookout where you can cure addictions? It's be miserable to have to do it without chems, or to pay for a boat ticket each way to go back and see a doctor.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a unique double barreled shotgun, which is pretty disappointing even if the regular shotty is so powerful.

You only have to buy the boat ticket once. Plus, chems-a-plenty in this vacation hotspot!

You have to buy a ticket for every crossing, I had to buy another ticket to get back to the wasteland. He even says as much... "Don't get stuck short on caps or you won't make it back to DC" or something to that effect.
Does any one know if there is a place to cure addictions in Lookout Point?

I didn't get caught out with this, but once you finish the main questline, some bitch takes over the boat and rides you around for free

Why yes, there is a way to cure addictions temporarily in Point Lookout!

If you didn't head off with enough of a stash, man, like, that's totally your problem.
Sorry I didn't know you had to buy a new ticket everytime - I just kinda blazed through it's main quest - but by the time you're doing this DLC, what's 300 caps anyway?

So I just finished Operation: Anchorage. I didn't hate it, it was kind of an interesting diversion. Plus the power armor and loot is pretty sweet.
The sword just absolutely wrecks everything. Just for spite I went back to the Reflecting Pool and massacred every Super Mutant there for when they ganged up on me.

Well, Point Lookout is clearly the best DLC released so far, easily on par with The Pitt in terms of atmosphere while being far superior in terms of exploration. I did like the very end though;
When I got to Tobar in the engine room, I calmly listened to what he had to say, holstered my Xuanlong Assault Rifle, and beat him to death with my bare hands.
Also, I know why the Ghoul Ecology perk is so horrifically broken. Looking in the G.E.C.K., the entry conditions for the perk are completely superfluous, and for that matter in the wrong place. When you make a perk that changes weapon damage, you need to go to the window in the bottom, and change the effect of the perk. The end result is that Ghoul Ecology provides a more or less blanket bonus in damage for most weapons, and thanks to the superfluous entry conditions it also seems to have some further strange effects with damage.
Point Lookout is the only good DLC released so far IMO, Anchorage, the less said the better, Pitt, total letdown and Steel? Pretty boring as well, only exists to carry on the core game and still finds a way to fuck that up.

I rather liked The Pitt. Sure, it wasn't anywhere near as expansive as Point Lookout, but the overall experience was still very distinct. It really felt like an industrial hellhole, and though more could have been done it still impressed me a lot.
Operation: Anchorage was hugely disappointing though. It should have been a training program with broken parameters or something. You know, starts out reasonably normal in that it drills you on a mission based on your skills and attributes, and then things start getting really weird as it goes on. Unfinished areas, soldiers that are inhumanly tough due to programming errors, beta versions of foes that exist based only on scant intelligence reports, that kind of thing. Instead, boring if pretty looking shooter that dragged on about an hour or two longer than it should have.
Broken Steel was pretty damn good, but it still felt clumsy in how it modified the original ending. Really though, that's about it as far as bad points go. Do keep in mind I'm almost blind in my fondness for Fallout 3, so I'm not exactly unbiased.
I give Point Lookout high marks compared to O:A and The Pitt. I categorize Broken Steel a bit differently as it does things the other three DLC packs did not (continuing the Main Story Line, and raising the level cap). If I were to recommend the DLC to someone who was not yet lvl 20, I would say get Point Lookout first then Broken Steel. Vice-versa for someone who has already hit the level cap. O:A and The Pitt I would only recommend to the completionists, or to unique weapon/armor collectors that want some new goodies.
So, have we even gotten a screenshot for Mothership Zeta? It's due next month is it not?
Oh, another thing about Point Lookout that I love:
In the Questline "The Dark Heart of Blackhall", I love how one of the options in completing the quest makes you travel back the the wastes to the infamous Dunwich Building.. I'm hoping that when I go back there the building has been repopulated, as I cleared it out forever ago. I'll let you guys know when I do.
Could you get the pint size slasher mask before this DLC?

Anchorage is awesome if for no other reason than the stealth suit. Broken though it may be, that thing is goddamned invaluable for people like me who like to scout their battles before firing a shot. Being able to take out a camp of Smugglers with the Blackhawk without any retaliation = :^:
The Pitt was fun, though the collect-a-thon bit was really tedious. I've never been a fan of platforming in FPSes. It does contain probably the single best "moral decision" in the entire game so far (or in just about any game). Kudos to Bethesda for not making it blindingly obvious which is the "right" route to take.
Broken Steel, eh, it's great for fixing the ending. The rest is icing on the cake.
But yeah, Point Lookout is atmosphere central. Having a lot of fun with it so far.
They need to add a perk that allows you to make robots into friendlies, at least for a period of time. I'd love to sneak up to a Security Bot and 're-program' it to start taking out some of the enemies in the area.

The RobCo Certified mod does exactly that, sans the sneaking, you still have to take them out before reprogramming them. There's also Build-a-Bot which lets you loot parts off the "corpses" to, you guessed it, build your own bots.
As for Point Lookout all I can say is; thank god for FOOK and the Warhammer power armor mods, because DAMN. In related news, has anyone complete the Velvet Curtain? Because
I've input the code sequence like 50 times and the hatch isn't appearing, which is irking the bejeezus out of me.

Heck yea, you're basicaly tripping over the things, they're everywhere. And they actualy look pretty good to.
I'm only into Springvale but smashing things with the regular sledgehammer is so satisfying.
It also makes my system feel slow, but that's another matter entirely.

The scene in the bog
I didnt get why there was a random settler body in there nor Lyons, I couldnt give two shits about Lyons and I dont see why my character would either.
Who was Mr Break though? I thought it was Burke at first but nope. Do i meet him later?
I guess the scene in the bog changes?
No I saw her to though Id forgotten untily ou said it.
Oh. Guess I just missed

I don't know where reviews are, but the general consensus I've seen from buyers is it's one of the best DLCs or the best.
