Odd headache/visual problem

The other day I was using a PSP, and words on the screen started becoming blurry, and I started seeing this effect on written words. It went away after around an hour or two, accompanied by a pretty severe headache.
This happened once before, like two months ago(only the headache was much worse then).
I also was seeing random patterns of light, it had nothing to do with my glasses.
Is this anything I should be worried about, or just a random symptom associated with headaches?
It's been suggested this could be the result of overexposure to electronics, which I'd be pretty guilty of. If that's the case, what's a good time frame to go by to prevent it in the future?
My girlfriend gets the "Blurry vision, followed by really bad headache" migranes. Nothing specific brings it on, just sometimes it hits.
I thought of that but i didn't think anyone had blurry visions aura's for "an hour or two"
I can come up with lots of explanations for the headache, but blurry vision for more than a few minutes seems pretty out there to me as symptoms go.
I've pulled all night'ers studying or playing games till my eyes went blurry, but if I close my eyes for 30 seconds and blink and few times I could easily continue reading small text and whatnot.
However, there's a slim but non-zero chance that it could also be a severe eye problem such as retinal detachment, ocular tumor, or macular degeneration. (More unlikely in younger people but it bears mentioning.)
Unexplained headaches are definitely in the "probably nothing but see a doctor anyway" category. And get your eyes checked.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.
Yeah, my girlfriend gets the auras, i guess you call them, for probably half an hour to an hour before they fade and she gets the headache.
Its actually kind of nice because it gives her time to get out of her current situation and relax and hopefully avoid the headache.
yeah, my migraine aura involves a sparkly pattern, like television static, that slowly fades in over about 15-30 minutes, then fades out over about 15-30 minutes. The total time the aura is visible can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Then there's another 20-30 minutes where I feel normal, and then the pain starts.
So an hour-long aura, though a little weird, is not totally unheard of.
Like I said before, it's probably a migraine, but you still want to rule out more serious conditions if possible.

There is another kind of migraine that comes without pain, called an ocular migraine.
I get these. These suck. Some people get small spurts of these before they get an actual migraine. I find, however, that if I keep my eyes open during these bouts, I will also get a headache from trying so hard to concentrate -- it's a headache due to eyestrain, for me.
You need to see a doctor and have your eye's health inspected thoroughly, as sometimes it can indicate a retina detaching. Your overall health, as well, as it can also indicate a chance of stroke. For me, it was the latter - my body was trying to have a stroke.
I usually described mine as "looking through a window with mercury running down it" - you can't focus on anything and when you try to, you get dizzy, trying to follow the clear spots. Mine last anywhere from 2 minutes to 2 hours.
There is nothing to be done about them, aside from close your eyes and try not to move. I find I get incredibly nauseous if I do. I have only started having them since age 21 - I had 2 the first year, then nothing for a while, then about 8 bouts of it last year. Mysterious mofos.
You can look up ocular migraines in google, if you're interested in learning more about them.
But yeah, as always, consult with a doctor.

I get this. It was helped by getting special coloured glasses as part of the problem is that my eyes don't focus very well. It's the same kinda thing some dyslexics get where words jump around on the page and they use coloured glasses to sort that out (I can't suggest a colour as it's different for different people).

The head aches could easily be caused by tension and eye strain. The vision part seems a little odd to me.
Edit: when was the last time you saw an optometrist?
I'm guessing you're working your way towards migraines.
Can trade TF2 items or whatever else you're interested in. PM me.
its scary but the faster you find out the better

Edit: hmm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Migraine#Aura_phase seems to contradict me, I guess it could be a migraine it's just unusual for aura's to last so long.
