but its intentionally terrible to get a laugh, that's the point of the show.

my personal favourite is when garth and the chief of staff guy walk out a door, and the 'walking away' sound effect plays but their shadows are still in the window
there are actual jokes in Darkplace
Tim & Eric is almost nothing but just being intentionally terrible with no point other than to say, "boy it sure is funny when people are terrible and don't know it so it must be even more hilarious when we're intentionally terrible without actually having any jokes."

When I was writing, directing and starring in Darkplace, I drew deeply from the dyke of my dreams. Also I took material from dead authors on whose work the copyright had lapsed. Bite me.

but that is exactly what darkplace is

they aren't outright jokes, but references and spoofing of terrible things!
There are jokes in Darkplace that aren't just based on spoofing bad 80s TV. I can't speak for Tim & Eric or whatever though.

e.g. the pube on the pipe metaphor, subtitles for the Scots, jokes about Liz being a woman.

comparing the two is stupid anyway

yes they do the same basic thing

the difference being darkplace does it with wit and timing and tim and eric drink cough syrup until they vomit out an idea
