5 more WoI Targets to go and 2 more bloody free running mission to finish. I think i've learnt a fair bit about the finer points of controlling Alex from those missions but i still can't bring myself to actually enjoy most of them.
Does anybody have any advice for Amongst the Clouds and Central Points (?) It starts in the park with the Armour kill missions. I can get a silver in Amongst the Clouds but i always screw up on the last stretch of the race, best i've managed there is a silver with 6 seconds out.
Central Points is just kicking the living crap out of me and i've never done better than getting a bronze about 5 seconds out from a silver on that.
Hit solid surfaces as often as you can to keep air-dashing. You should be gliding as little as possible for the last few running missions.
Among the Clouds might be the hardest of the bunch, for what it's worth.

My strategy for Amongst the clouds has been
Run and jump the pit to the first point
run jump off the tiny ledge you land on and then use the glide to reach the second point.
stop and charge jump to glide to the third point without having to stop on any intermediary towers or spend time running up the walls
same for the next
and then the strategy kind of fails because you always end up dashing across roofs and up the bloody walls trying to get to the final one in time.
Oh wow you guys weren't kidding about the final boss. He wasn't as bad as that tank bit though, but man did those marines come through for me in the end. They almost never shot me the entire fight and were an important source of nutrients at key times.
God bless them.
Yeah the end was kind of weird but the final boss wasn't nearly as bad as it was made out to be. Though
I really didn't get the ending. Mostly because I was so confused as to how someone could say "You can't touch me because I have that one piece of info!" and Alex is just like "DAMN I CANT TOUCH HIM!"
It's like the game forgot all about absorbing people.

Well technically he did touch him.
He just took a second to gloat like the evil man he is, going "hey dumbass I can consume people and steal all their knowledge, you didn't know that? It's easy, watch! SEE HOW EASY THIS IS!?"
Then again the writing is a special kind of awful so you might be more on the mark.

I think I missed that part then because I don't recall him doing anything and then the final boss appeared out of nowhere and distracted me.
The last boss really felt like a rushjob to me. I also hope that for an eventual sequel that you'll be able to use your moveset on every enemy in the game. Not being able to use the more fancy fighting techniques on Hunters or Supersoldiers felt really cheap and lazy, in terms of design.

How?
Didn't the Specialist Hunter kill him?

(PSN: Morninglord) (Steam: Morninglord) (WiiU: Morninglord22) I like to record and toss up a lot of random gaming videos here.
Just got Amongst the clouds done in a minute dead, didn't know you could charge a jump while running up the wall, so much faster than repeatedly tapping the jump and dash.
I used whipfist for this my first time through. The military spend their entire time fighting the infected anyway so I would just watch the truck and if a hunter got close, whipfist him.
That's enough to aggro him away from the truck so the military can do their thing. Meanwhile I get ready to rinse and repeat on the next one.
I'm at the point where there are two hunter leaders on the truck, and they kill it in a few seconds. I'll go free roam until I can afford the blade drop
Are you actually defending the trunk or escorting it? For the former i just ate regular infected til I could use a critical mass ability. I'm not sure but I think hitting a hunter leader will usually make them chase you around a bit and the truck could take a few hits from the regular hunters while i deal with the leaders/consume stuff. I could eat enough of them between waves and use it right as they all converged on the truck. After that it was just a matter of killing the hunter leaders.
Defending it, although since I quit out I think I'll have to start again from the escort. I had the most luck when I started using the whipfist. I think turning armor off so I can dodge might help too.
I don't think you have to escort the truck again because that would be just cruel. Anyway here is a list of what I did at the very start of the mission.
equip shield+hammer fist
ignore the truck for the first round while i get critical mass
lure any stray hunters next to truck
position myself right next to the truck
kill hunters with devastator attack
kill any stray hunter/leaders
get critical mass during the down time after a wave
That pretty much got me through it with out 50%ish life left on the truck.
Am I alone in liking this game less and less each time I play it? I love the free roam, but hate the missions/side missions

Big shout out to Ed for mentioning Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York". It sounds great while mucking around in the city. As do his other songs
:whistle:I did it my wayyyyyyyy:whistle: *Muscle Mass Bulletdrop into busy street*
EDIT: I also snapkicked a super soldier towards another rooftop during one of the side missions, then flykicked all the way over there to finish him off, so that's a no from me, wusoldjr.

I know I'm the opposite, at least. I'm playing through it again on hard now and been throwing myself, with vigour, at every side mission. Having proper missions to do again is really fun too.

There really does need to be some more content for this game to really have any legs, but they've already gone ahead and said they're done supporting it, no cheats, no DLC. If any game was screaming for wacky cheats and new game modes, this was it.

Wow, that sucks. I agree giving this game some cool cheats would do a lot to making it more fun. Just give me low gravity, that's all I need.
Eh, staring at the game's case on top of my 360 makes me wish I got Red Faction instead. Ah well.

I would have loved to see something like a L4D infected set for each power. Each power changes your skin
Whipfist - Smoker
Hammerfist - Tank
Claws - Hunter
Musclemass - Boomer
Blade - ...emmm...balls!

There are definitely some APCs floating around. Go into the sidestreets right at the start, away from the truck before shit spawns.
I'm just about halfway through the main missions. Still having tons of fun just running around. I'm really digging the Web of Intrigue. I like seeing all the different perspectives. Running and gunning is a blast, and I still can't get enough of throwing people into the sides of walls.
I think my favourite part of the boss fight in Times Square is how it's incredibly tedious if you don't use vehicles, but if do use vehicles you'll repeatedly fail it because the helicopter flies out of the mission area during the pointless little "mash the button" hijacking qte.
It's a hard choice, though. I mean, I also love how it's incredibly easy to get stunlocked by a pair of hunters for five minutes as they slowly drive you out of the mission area so you fail that way.
Or how about those stupid-ass fat fucks with their running attacks that deal virtually no damage? Yeah, I love them. I love how they're no threat at all other than knocking you over so the giant penis can vomit masonry on you.
That boss fight is absolutely fucking terrible. It's not hard, it's not challanging, it's just tedious and irritating. I'm baffled that someone looked at it and thought "Yes, this is good game design. I have done good work here."
So immediately after posting about having so much trouble with beating that first hunter fight, I got past it.
Two things I didn't realize: 1., that I could activate my shield while still having the claws active, and 2. I don't know how to dodge roll. I always miss those kinds of things.
I only died once on the first Hunter mission. The second time I totally missed where the objective changed to 'blow up the fuel tanks with rockets' and I kept fighting for a good 15 minutes, then realized what I needed to do.
I died 7 times as it turned out. I just kept getting raped.
Maybe its because I suck at combos, even simple ones, but I'm not really into the whipfist. At all. But then again, I pretty much play this game by pressing two buttons. Square and Triangle. In random order. That's probably also why I haven't been able to defend the toxic truck. I don't know how to do any moves. I buy them, and then they just sit there. Unused.
I'm terrible at remembering and executing combos. That's why I stay away from fighter games, and even action games like God of War and Devil May Cry aggrivate me, because I cannot get away with simply mashing the same button over and over.
it seems to be easier to control and fight with alex with a mouse/keyboard beause I can execute any combo very easily with just my mouse buttons

That first fight with the hunters in the warehouse is probably the hardest one in the game because you're stuck in an enclosed space with very few combat options available to you (since you've not yet progressed far in the game). I don't think you even have the running grab at that point (which should have been a default move in the game, by the way - it's too bread-and-butter to be relegated to a purchase).

Hit solid surfaces as often as you can to keep air-dashing. You should be gliding as little as possible for the last few running missions.

Just brush up against a wall or land on a corner. You'll save precious seconds that way.
Give me my last three WOI targets goddamnit.

there ain't no tanks
I got half-way through and then literally just exited to desktop to read my email.
Edit: Tube - Try muscle mass and jump attacks. Tends to knock off the hunters pretty quickly and with minimal fuss.
