So I just read a deck that is turbofog esque, and it uses Time Sieve + Open the Vaults, which is FUCKING BRILLIANT and I wish I thought of that. It mills you to death and it takes a shitton of extra turns. What's not to love?
I didn't see you on the past two nights so hopefully we can catch each other tomorrow night. I should be on after 8 PM EST/5 PM PST and will check for you in the anything goes room regularly.
Mana screw both ways for rounds one and two. For the decider the zombie army got itself rolling and Death Baron buffed pretty early on and stomped on home to victory.
Damn right he did. Man, I never even touched you that round, all my energy went into holding the horde of buffed zombies at bay. Fucking Death Baron.
Any one of my dozen or so removal cards would have been capable of bringing your little zombie shindig to a grinding halt (at least until you drew the second Baron)....but nooooooo.

what turn do you combo off? seems kind of slow
Oh it's not a REAL combo in the sense that "I do this I win the game." It's more of a "I'm gonna take two extra turns and I'm going to mill a shitton of your deck."
Here's the list that I saw. I think I'd probably put Sanity Grinding in it too.

Anybody interested in building 2.5 decks when M10 drops in a couple of weeks? I'd like that more than block, I think. I'd like getting into standard even more, but I don't want to spend a lot of money on cards that will rotate out (relatively) soon.
I would think it has a tough time against faeries 5cc and combo elves, with the first two having counters to just stop your action, and combo elves just comboing faster than you. probably crushes kithkin and might be decent against cascade, though pulse might still be a problem.
I'm not really a fan of owling mine type decks, where it crushes one deck but auto loses to another, might be good at FNM though if you know no one is playing faeries

I think silence is a card the deck could also probably use to stop those/slow those decks. It's trying to play like turbofog, why not SPELL FOG?

EDIT:
Or maybe, instead of Megrim, as many Underworld Dreams as possible, then Hive Mind, then Mind Spring.
It's better than time warp, since you get all the pieces back with Open the Vaults, and you can do it again. Also, in the deck I linked, you'd be grabbing additional cards with the Kaleidostones and Elsewhere Flasks, Howling Mines and Jace activations, so you might get ANOTHER vaults. See? It's AWESOME.
Sign in Blood and then use the awesome copier spell. Gets you there FASTER. Sign in Blood, Hive Mind, Underworld Dreams and Twincast = uhhh. I actually have to write this out.
Sign in Blood = 4 damage with underworld dreams.
Twincast, targeting Sign in Blood = 4 Damage with underworld dreams.
Twincast copy, targeting Sign in Blood = 4 damage with underworld dreams.
That's kind of cool, although I highly doubt it's anywhere near tournament viable. If he copies any of the Signs targeting you, it's possible that you'd just get more twincasts or signs, ending his LIFE.
EDIT:
The reason I reference Mind Spring and Burning Inquiry in particular is because they have no target. You use spells that do the same thing to both of you, but are detrimental only to him, and if he tries to counter anything then you just counter-counter automatically.
As long as the land doesn't have shroud or protection or something, absolutely. Oh, and I just really read Hive Mind and it's each other player, so you don't get a copy of twincast. Eight damage though, per combo. You could even go extended and Isochron Scepter the two.
Damage is loss of life, loss of life is not damage.

Right, damage causes loss of life, so luminesence wouldn't work. Tainted Sigil would, but you'd have to stop before you'd die.
Hive Mind would proc multiple times per each copy in play. I don't think adding Megrim + Burning Inquiry would be the way to go. You need more parts now and are destabilizing the mana base. USE TWIN CAST.

Mana base isn't as much of a problem with Convincing Mirage. I really think that Megrim + Burning Inquiry is ideal, since it has no target (so the opponent has no choice in the matter) and deals 6 damage just by itself. The problem with Twin Cast vs. Hive Mind is that you need to draw as many Twin Casts as your Burning Inquiries. I think the ideal deck would probably have both. I'm interested to see, if I cast Twin Cast and the other player casts it because of Hive Mind, do they absolutely have to pick a target? What if they Twin Cast my Twin Cast? Couldn't we have an infinite Twin Cast loop? It's like, I heard you liked Twin Casts...
The alternative being that the opponent would be forced to Twin Cast my Burning Inquiry, which would be bad-ass.

Why in god's name would you actually run convincing mirage? B/R discard is probably your best option, as it would provide board control, and you could use the other tools available in black for discard. They could twincast the twincast, which would be fucking silly. You could probably use Tendrils of Corruption and win like that in extended if they were dumb enough to do that.
Why did they nerf prize support for Sealed Swiss from 3/5/9 to 2/4/6? So sad...
They removed the tix from cost of admission and increased QP values, which to those that care about QP is probably a pretty nice exchange.
What are QP?! And how do I read 2/4/6? Is it third place 2 tix second 4 and first 6?
There are now monthly MTGO championships that function as online qualifiers for Pro Tour event (to a somewhat limited extent).
In order to qualify for the monthly championship, you have to accrue a certain amount of QP (qualify points) earned through the organized events found through the tournament tab. I think that amount is 10 or 15, I can't remember.
So, come PA League Season 2 and the release of M10, we can all start our season by entering a sealed swiss event for no extra cost other than the packs we already are buying for the league. In that swiss event each win earns you 2 packs and 1 QP, and so winning the event earns you 6 packs and 3 QP.

Tres bummer for me. I'd much rather have the higher pack payout. I just don't play enough these days for QP to matter.
After witnessing my Post-5C Jund deck underperform considerably in league practice matches, I've defeated Acxen, 2 - 0, to clinch a spot in the playoffs, along with JeffH, c_shadow, and DarkLyre.
Game One involved a slow back and forth as Acxen protected his life with a Vedelken Outlander, whose Pro-Red basically read "Pro-metaghost". However, I was eventually able to land Charnelhoard Wurm, which lead to supreme card advantage in the form of a recurring Bloodbraid Elf. The board was swarming with more red beasts than a meager Outlander could manage and Acxen conceded.
Game Two was a bit less dramatic, as I had a fast start of Necrogenesis > Hackblade > Bloodbraid. After I Terminated Rafiq as soon as he took a seat at the table, I dropped an Igneous Pouncer to seal the deal.
Always the courteous opponent, Acxen's legion of flyers was ultimately no match for Team Hasty Pudding.
PS - Would some more Painkeeps get on with their fucking matches? C'mon!
I actually bought a booster box of the new set yesterday and made a discard deck with Megrim and Underworld Dreams. I have 3 megrim and I got 2 underworld dreams in the box. The deck kills quite fast may I add. Its great. Its a vampire discard deck. I got the ....uhhh...I forget his name...a Mythic Rare Vampire but I forget his name Lets you see the top card of your deck always and if its black all vampires I control get +1 +2 and have flying I think it was.
And no. Not online. I bought real cards. But I dont know where else Id put this so I said it in here. (Mainly because I found it funny you guys were talking about a deck I just made last night.)

Darkmagics Playoffs: ROUND ONE
Iolo vs BYE
Elbasunu VS Tabris814
TigerBurning VS JamWarrior

ROUND TWO:
Elbasunu OR Jamwarrior VS Iolo
TigerBurning OR Tabris814 VS ChaosHat
There are 4 of us with 15 on the dot and tied for second, all players had the exact same win/loss/tie record so I compared who you lost to to break the tie. I lost to Iolo, which is top ranked, and TigerBurning had a loss vs DevoutlyApathetic, who I deleted from the sheet because I didn't think I'd need his data, but his record is 2/3/2 which makes him the worst of tie breakers. So, then top two get byes, and then the best of the rest goes against the worst of the rest, so Elbasunu vs JamWarrior (Elba's only loss was to me, second seed), which just leaves Burning vs JamWarrior.

I don't get it, why not just Time Warp + Jace Beleren?
Hey, and what about this idea for a combo:

Is that viable or not?

Uncounterable, I might add, because of Hive Mind.
Of course, they are chipping away at you until turn 7.

Does
Let you draw your entire deck? Or does losing life not count as damage?
Throw in
4 Megrim, 4 Hive Minds, 4 Burning Inquiry (could happen by turn 9): 768 damage.
EDIT:
Er, actually, no, that doesn't work.
Come to think of it, I wonder whether Hive Mind would do any sort of stacking?
No, I think it's because Ad Nauseam does not count as dealing the damage to you, you just receive the damage in general.
Hive Mind would proc multiple times per each copy in play. I don't think adding Megrim + Burning Inquiry would be the way to go. You need more parts now and are destabilizing the mana base. USE TWIN CAST.
