Guys I want a little experiment. What three things that cost more than $100 but less than $1,000 do you plan on acquiring in the next year about which you're most excited?
(wants, not needs)
Combined or individually?
Either I guess?
I basically just mean 'not a house or car'. I'm just trying to get a feel on what you guys buy when you have money to blow? Concert tickets? MP3 players? New TVs? A new wardrobe? etc.
If you're paying $100+ for concert tickets you're doing it wrong.
I bought a TV and an iPod and a gaming console in the past year, though. Clothes is another good way to go.
Or just saving it.
Or you're going to a 3 day music festival. Still concert tickets, and over $100 (can't remember how much, exactly).
Um...
Plane tickets and reservations for a trip to Hokkaido's Snow Festival (getting them before the end of the year), I guess a monitor and keyboard for my computer, and ... *shrug* I might invest in a new MP3 player, but mine currently works well, and the ones I really want either aren't sold here (Zune) or you have to use shitty proprietary software (Sony SonicStage, fuck you Sony).
One time I wasn't sure where I was going, so I just downloaded the Google Maps app right then and there, and found out where to go!
It was amazing!
Yeah, and if all I had to do was buy a blackberry I'd have had one years ago. I just can't justify doubling my monthly bill because I want ubiquitous internet in my pocket.

I like to purchase microphones and various audio recording equipment. But a lot of that stuff is >$1000, hence why I don't have a whole lot of it.
Moniker I got a response from the library. They still have the balance I owe from when I was like 16 or 17.
I looked around in storage and found like... 3 of the books. If they'll still take them back 4-5 years later that would take some off the top but I'd still owe like $275. Do you think they'd work with me? I assume they can't exactly report me to collections or anything- I was a minor when I signed up- but I would like a library card and $275 is a lot of money for something that most people get for free. My family probably stole most of the books when we moved.

Sigh.

You can probably arrange something since they would have just bought new books, and those wouldn't have cost $275 even with processing and all that. Otherwise, I have no idea.
I'm amazed they didn't forgive the fines after a year or five.

A festival and a concert are two very different things. And even then you're looking at $80-$200.
Ah... I suppose. I count them both as "concerts" personally. *shrug*
I'm staying at school until like 6 today because we have a drinking party tonight. Although, I heard there may not be much drinking. I'm not 100% sure.
Mostly because mine is about 3 years old and the ones they have now are so...nice.
Ooo... yeah. I need a new one so I can backup my computer and install Windows 7 fresh. In fact, I may look into doing that this weekend... Hm... (God this month is going to be expensive. Fuck city taxes with a rake)
Moniker: I called asking why I haven't received mine in the mail and the dude told me "there's a hold on your account because of a back balance of $352.xx". He told me I could go to the main branch (at 19th and Vine) to "sort it out". That makes me think there might be some sort of room for haggling, versus just 'hey go there and pay'.
I don't doubt the sum is that high... a couple of the books were rare ones from in the stacks that a Librarian had to fetch for you. I know that makes me a total asshole but my father died right in that period when they were supposed to be returned and I totally flaked on them after that. I forgot they existed until I considered getting a library card.

I don't know what to tell you. You can probably haggle with them, but I really don't know.
moniker: no worries. I'm pretty much just thinking out loud at this point. I'm working a double tomorrow and Saturday so I probably won't get up to the main branch until Monday. I'm more curious than anything about what they'll say. If they tell me I need to pay $352, I'll just have to politely say "sorry, I can't do that right now" and put my library card ambitions on hold.
Now I remember why i do not like being back in my parent's house. Watching porn requires far more secrecy than it does in my apartment.

Morning chat. Today is going to be a bad day. We have the postgraduate conference which is an unending series of crappy talks, one of which will be my crappy talk. And then rather than get drunk, I'll go home and start moving house. As I have not had any damn time to do it so far.

tear out the table of contents and send it to them to show you mean business
Toronto has a vendor every two blocks. It's nice. Dumb Mississauga.
I haven't had one in ages.
"My God.
He molested the dust jacket."
I miss Toronto.

Where are you now?
Ohio. I visited for a while. Fantastic city.
